A four-year initiative launched this past January and backed by Horizon Europe funding, Circula-TEX features Centrocot as a key player in a broad European partnership. This collaborative effort brings together research centers, textile brand associations, including Confindustria Moda, waste management consortia, and companies specializing in the sorting and collection of end-of-life textile materials. The project’s core mission is to develop shared guidelines for implementing a harmonized Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme across Europe.
Circula-TEX is zeroing in on critical areas like ecodesign, traceability labeling, and design for recycling. Pilot projects will explore tangible solutions aimed at simplifying the management of textile products once they reach the end of their lifecycle. The initiative involves extensive research and analysis of the current state of the art throughout the textile supply chain, with active engagement from stakeholders via both online and in-person events.
Centrocot is kicking off the dissemination phase at Milano Unica, aiming to gather initial feedback on a project poised to reshape the future of European textiles with sustainability and circularity at its core. Coordinated by RINA Consulting S.p.A., Circula-TEX unites 19 partners from 9 European countries. It’s set to be a significant driving force behind the Green Deal and the EU Strategy for Sustainable Textiles, working to overcome regulatory fragmentation among Member States. By developing harmonized criteria and scalable solutions, all validated through concrete case studies, Circula-TEX seeks to foster circular and interoperable management of textile waste.
