S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche has been a leader in the design construction, and installation of industrial plants and auxiliary equipment for over 35 years. Specializing in machinery for tanneries and water purification systems, S.C. has been operating since the mid-1980s from its 2,500 square meter facility in Empoli, Florence. Its strategic location near the highway provides ample space for logistics and efficient movement of goods. S.C. prioritizes two core values: workplace safety and environmental protection. The company’s in-house technical office and cutting-edge mechanical workshop ensure the production of high- quality equipment. This allows S.C. to manage every stage of the manufacturing process, guaranteeing exceptional reliability, ease of maintenance, and durability. “Regarding eco-sustainability,” explains Roberto Calattini, co-owner of the company with Fabio Scardigli, “S.C. is at the forefront of promoting environmentally friendly machinery. Our established range of equipment for wastewater filtration and screening, by-product recovery and the recycling of exhausted baths contributes significantly to the environmental sustainability of industrial processes.” Reflecting this commitment to sustainability, S.C. Creazioni introduces Cleandisc, an innovative technology designed for industries requiring a reliable, durable, cost-effective and easy-to-maintain filtration system. Cleandisc is an advanced microfiltration system engineered to enhance the removal of suspended solids from water. It is particularly valuable in industrial settings where water filtration and recycling are essential, such as industrial laundries, textile manufacturing, and plastics production. The system comprises a tank divided into three compartments: feed, clarified discharge, and overflow. Its operation is both straightforward and efficient: wastewater is pumped into the feed compartment and passes through a series of rotating discs covered with filter screens. These screens trap solid particles, and the clarified water flows into the discharge compartment. The machine is designed to remove all solid matter in any water- based industrial process, including washing, painting, and surface treatments. “It’s an innovative machine with significant advantages,” says Calattini. “Firstly, because the discs are mounted on guide rollers, they don’t require a central shaft. This allows operators to easily clean them by removing the solid material without specialized tools, in just a few minutes, using high-pressure water. This is a key feature that sets us apart from other manufacturers.” The patented microfilter offers the flexibility to select the optimal filter mesh size (200 microns, 150 microns, 300 microns, etc.) depending on the specific application. This makes Cleandisc a highly versatile solution suitable for diverse industries. “We like to say that wherever there’s water, there’s a place for our machine,” Calattini continues. “Take the plastics industry, for example, where manufacturing processes are evolving towards increasingly sustainable solutions. One compelling example is the grinding cycle, where products require thorough washing after processing. Water management plays a crucial role in this context. The water used is filtered and reused multiple times to minimize waste. However, a portion needs to be replenished, and this is where Cleandisc’s mechanical filtration comes in. It can remove even plastic particles larger than 2 mm, making the process more efficient and environmentally friendly.”
The textile and fashion industries also benefit from these filtration technologies. Consider cotton: the residue generated during production, once treated, can become a valuable resource. In industrial laundries or abrasive fabric manufacturing, waste materials are collected, recycled, and transformed into flocked cotton. This approach not only reduces waste but also yields a refined and cost-effective product.

CLEANDISC – Microfilters for waste waters
The micro filtering system Cleandisc represents the evolution of the traditional screening system and improve the efficiency in removing the suspended solid waste before the following treatment operations. This result is achieved no matter if the tannery has its own or discharge into a centralised effluent treatment plant. Cleandisc with a capacity from 5 to 100 mS/h it is used whenever there is solids to be removed from the waste waters. First developed for the tanneries the Cleandisc system during the years has been gradually used for other kind of production, such as, food and beverage, agriculture, industrial laundries, etc. The innovative and patented system developed by SC is the evolution of a well known and widely tested machine, the rotating disc filter, which has been improved for an easier and quicker maintenance of the filtering nets. The innovative SC system allow to use the 100% of the filtering surface. The innovative solution projected by SC with its Cleandisc is simple and effective. The centralised axis has been eliminated, and the discs are mounted on driving rolls. This makes easier to change the nets and skilled operators are no longer needed. Furthermore, the Cleandisc structure, in case of an increased volume of water to be filtered, allow to connect a new one into an existing machine with an easy-plug system. The Cleandisc is suitable for any kind of industry, from the smallest to the biggest.
