Costruzioni Meccaniche Persico, based in San Giovanni Lupatoto (Verona) and specialized in the production of through-feed feshing machines, keeps on growing. The importance of the new factory launched in November 2023
2024 promises to be another year of growth for Costruzioni Meccaniche Persico, specialized in the production of through-feed fleshing machines in different models and types, mainly intended for the tanning sector. “Technology & professionalism that have made the difference for 60 years”, is the main slogan that appears on the home page of the website of the Venetian industry, founded in 1963, which manages to provide cutting-edge technology on the Italian and foreign markets (fleshing machines able to optimize any process), ensure high quality and production speed (up to 600 leathers per hour), as well as offer reliability and constant assistance, thanks to the ability to intervene for any problem.
“We are satisfied because we closed 2023 with good figures – states Alberto Nieri, CEO of Costruzioni Meccaniche Persico, whom we met at the end of January at the headquarters -, registering an increase compared to 2022, when we had already hit the historic turnover record. This is an important result especially because the leather sector is going through a difficult moment, therefore being able to confirm the same results is significant. We have managed to do even better and we are confident also in view of the year that has just begun – so far, we received many orders for several months.”
To achieve these performances, what strategy did you rely on?
“In times of crisis, there are those who remain still waiting for the recovery and those who continue to invest; we are part of this second group. Both last year and in 2024 we devoted budget to invest, a high amount compared to the turnover, that will be destined to our factory and in the field of research and development, thanks to which we are able to keep on launching new ideas and to work in view of 2025 and the years to come. Our staff includes two in-house technical-developers who do not deal with production but exclusively with research, an area in which outside studios work for us for other projects. We proudly admit that we are ambitious: we ourselves try to set the market standard, focusing in a particular way on these bases.”
How are the relationships with your customers?
“We show everyone a deep, mutual trust and collaboration. As far as possible, we do not wait for their requests but try to anticipate them, offering new innovative ideas. We believe that undergoing the market is not a winning policy, but a losing one right away. Among our virtues, is never feeling fully satisfied, as we always aim for new goals and for this reason we raise the bar, striving to do more, and better”.
2023 was characterized by the move of your company to a new location that is double the size of the previous one. How important was this decision?
“Very much, we were convinced of this even before moving (the move took place at the beginning of November, ed.), now we can confirm it: it will be essential for the efficiency of work cycles, as well as for the growth of production levels. The new headquarters is located in industrial area, in via Fossa Fresca. We purchased an area of 20.000 sqm (with the possibility therefore of further expansions in the future), where two warehouses have now been built, for a total of over 6,500 of indoor surface, divided between offices, production, assembly and warehouse.”
How should the market be approached in times of crisis?
“We have focused above all on the potential of our technologies, which represent the top of the range, even our competitors agree on this: the quality and ability to meet any request guarantee a reliability package capable of making the difference on the market. The other aspect concerns the price lists: we managed to increase production volumes and this allowed us to keep prices unchanged, or slightly higher, compared to a few years ago, in the pre-Covid period, so to speak. The winning move is to offer to those who decide to make an investment high performance and an attractive price.”
Which are the most requested through-feed fleshing machines of your range?
“They are different, starting from the flagship Fleshing Machine S23, equipped with the innovative ACS (Air Control System), the touchscreen interface that allows to manage and adjust the machine settings quickly and easily. Another top of the range, the flesh pump, is also proving to be well- appreciated by the market; we presented at our stand at the latest edition of Tanning Tech show: this machine is equipped with a technologically groundbreaking system, which, thanks to a software, can operate with a timer or through a device that turns it on when necessary: this allows the pump to work at the minimum necessary pressure, self-regulating without any sensor in the pumping body. In the company we like to use the following slogan: “We are guided by the passion that drives us to create the fleshing machines of the future.”
Let’s talk about foreign markets: is there any spot you are particularly focusing on?
“We are already renowned worldwide, so we don’t need to make ourselves known. Obviously, as for every company, there are some areas that are more important than others, we too are working on them. At this stage all the continents can guarantee important developments, even if the ongoing wars and political tensions do not help.”
