Diadora Utility will be in the limelight at A+A in Düsseldorf, the leading world trade fair for safety and security, with a 175 square metre stand where to display all the news of the ‘winter flyer selection’ and the 2024 collection
U tility will be a main player at the 2023 edition of the A+A trade fair, the leading international safety exhibition, to be held in Düsseldorf from 24 to 27 October. In the German city, the company, which has participated in this event for many years, will be present in Hall 12 – Stand D70. “This is a very important event,” explains Martina Bertozzo, Merchandising Manager Utility, “because the main safety players will be present, as well as manufacturers from all over the world. This edition will be particularly significant for us because we will be honouring the 25th year since the founding of the Utility brand. There will be a time of celebration at our stand. For the occasion we will present a preview of a new product, we look forward to seeing you at the stand to discover it!”
The trade fair will also be an opportunity to speak about the innovations in the clothing collection – did you follow any particular trends in the development of the winter collection?
“In the winter collection we have expanded the existing lines to present comfortable and functional total looks for the colder season. We focus on technological innovation and sophisticated design, the winning combination that allows us to offer all workers the solutions that best suit their needs. Not only that, thanks to increasingly high-performance fabrics and new colour variations, with the garments in the new collection we offer maximum choice in the combination of different outfits to make the Utility range suitable for the most diverse work contexts, in particular industry, workshop, logistics and artisan work”.
What characterises the winter innovations you offer?
“Every single garment in the Utility winter clothing collection is designed to provide the worker with practicality, functionality and style. New items include the expansion of our Hybrid clothing line, which combines excellence in terms of materials and technology. In addition to the high- performance garments already in the collection such as softshells, vests and technical trousers, we have added the Hybrid Tactic Sweatshirt: a full-zip sweatshirt in scuba fabric to guarantee maximum functionality and performance while maintaining the sporty style and technicality typical of the brand. Not only that, we have enhanced the Hybrid range with the Padded Jacket Hybrid Tactic, a padded rain jacket certified according to the CE EN343 standard that measures the water resistance of workwear. Thanks to the materials used, such as the 100% recycled polyester wadding, the garment is also RCS certified. This standard, which recognises the importance of fabric recovery, encourages the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model, with the aim of helping to reduce the use of resources such as virgin raw materials, water and energy. In addition, we have extended the colour range of Polar Fleece Techno, a technical stretch fleece, where the charcoal colour with contrasting fluorescent orange trim adds a touch of style to the winter collection, enhancing its modern, linear design. Not only that, we have extended the Athena line for women with the Padded Jacket Tech,
a lightweight padded jacket with Breathing System by Geox technology, the perspiration system that lets the body breathe without allowing water to pass through, creating ideal working conditions.”
As always in the Utility world, in addition to innovation there is also attention to detail and design.
“For Diadora Utility, innovation and design go hand in hand. We have the fortune of benefiting from the logic that comes from sport, and translating it into the Utility world, so that we can offer garments with technical materials and construction typical of sportswear, but designed with all the characteristics and features that make them usable for different work activities. Design and construction dominate because there are details that are specifically studied to make the garments performant and comfortable. To mention a few specific details, some garments for men have the ‘beard-saving’ protective cover or the triple adjustment of the hood, which allows a fit to be shaped to the head of a worker and guarantee freedom of movement during his duties. In particular, attention to the movements of the end-user is one of our ‘missions’. In fact, we offer ergonomic garments with a comfortable fit to guarantee everyone maximum comfort and freedom at every stage of their activity. For example, we have trousers suitable for the construction world that have reinforcements in different materials, with specific elasticity and abrasion resistance characteristics, which are placed at specific points to allow the worker to bend at the knees or sit on concrete and also stone constructions (surfaces of all kinds).”
Diadora Utility is a brand known worldwide. What are your main markets?
“We deal with products that comply with CE regulations, so our main market is Europe, which has substantial climatic differences within it: from the Mediterranean area with its mild, temperate climate to the countries further north that have cold temperatures for most of the year, to Great Britain characterised by constant rain. Although we offer winter garments that are in any case designed to be transversal, there is no doubt that from the Scandinavian countries, to give an example, there is a demand for mainly heavy and very padded garments, which however are also good for Austria and Switzerland, but also in Italian regions such as Valle d’Aosta and Trentino-Alto Adige. From Germany, demand is usually for very structured garments with particularly robust and resistant materials. In Mediterranean countries such as Italy, Spain and Greece, the preference turns to garments that are always ergonomic and comfortable, but with lighter fabrics in view of the increasingly mild climate, even in winter. The Diadora Utility Winter Flyer Selection is part of an absolutely varied and complete product portfolio, to best meet the needs of each individual worker, in all weather conditions.”
