At Tanning Tech in Milan, DMS, based in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza), exhibited the Rc Lab 800 model, designed for the tanning sector as well as for textiles, furniture and paper coating.
During the 2024 edition of Simac Tanning Tech, we visited the booth of DMS based in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza), a municipality belonging to the Arzignano district. The company, specializing in the production and sale of finishing machines for tanning, showed us a “universal” machine. “The final balance is positive,” explained Dario Rubbo, co-owner together with Diego Cailotto, historical founders of the company in 1997 which is active worldwide with the dual brands DMS Italia and DMS International – “in the end it turned out to be a very positive choice, given the interest encountered during the three days of the show “.
“Here at the Fair,” he added, “we exhibited an innovative machine, the Rc Lab 800 model, equipped with a conveyor belt for finished leather, with which we are ready to enter the textile sector and beyond. In truth, it does not represent a novelty in absolute terms because this machine, which we are convinced will represent a strong point for DMS in the coming years, has already been built and sold abroad, and is perfectly operational and functioning within a factory. The initial idea, as the name says, was to design and build a laboratory machine, for the production of small quantities, but the interest registered by the market convinced us to also create the 1800 model, which boasts more than doubled dimensions, while maintaining the same characteristics of quality and manageability during work”. We made a change of strategy, well thought out as it is oriented towards the future, a new path undertaken by the top management of the company. “The world of tanning remains a priority for us,” Mr. Rubbo specified, “nevertheless, we are looking carefully at a possible development in other sectors, especially textiles and furniture, given that these new machines have been designed and engineered also for coating paper or film. Given the current difficult economic situation, we are moving with caution, avoiding hasty steps. Our idea is to soon get to know a new sector, therefore we will visit the 2025 edition of Milano Unica, scheduled for next February. At the moment, we have no intention of exhibiting. We try to take one step at a time, but in a period of economic uncertainty, building our machines for multiple sectors is a strategic choice to be active in a wider market”. The range of DMS machines boasts characteristics that have been improved over time. “For some years now,” – this is the analysis of the owner of DMS – “the most pressing demand from the market has been for the greatest possible savings in terms of consumption, which concerns not only electricity but also water, both for washing and for recycling that is now obligatory. Within the framework of the objectives linked to energy saving, we place a lot of trust in the benefits concerning Industry 5.0, after the great success of the previous 4.0. We hope that the new tool will be able to guarantee a boost in this sense starting from 2025”. “The economic situation is also uncertain,” concludes Dario Rubbo, “conditioned by various factors, primarily the conflicts underway, which end up affecting the whole world. In Italy, the market is quite stagnant. Hence, the need to focus on foreign markets; South America is an interesting area, but we are even confident that European countries where we are registering good feedback.”
