DMS presented increasingly environmentally friendly machinery at the fair, with the possibility of also focusing on recycling components, including electrical and pneumatic parts
The market demands and DMS responded. As a matter of fact, at the September edition of Tanning Tech, the company, a regular exhibitor, presented its latest innovations related to environmental issues. The company, headquartered in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza), specializes in the production and sale of finishing machines for tanning and is renowned on the Italian and foreign markets under the dual brand names DMS Italia and DMS International.
“For some years now,” Dario Rubbo, co-owner together with Diego Cailotto, the founders of the company in 1997, explained to us at the stand, “customers have been looking for machines that are increasingly ecological and capable of consuming less. We have been working in this direction for years, not only with regard to emissions into the environment, but research and development has also focused on water recycling technology, including that used for washing the various equipment. For this reason, by creating, in the lower part, a base that in fact is a water container, we have reduced emissions in wastes by 40%: these are all real numbers that we can prove. In addition to a market request, this is a mandatory choice for the future as the regulations on the subject will come to require such performance from the machines: we preferred to anticipate the times, in order not to be unprepared. Companies that do not adjust to this, risk to not passing the EU controls.”
On the subject of the environment, there is another important innovation, presented by DMS during the 2023 edition of Simac Tanning Tech. “In our business,” added Rubbo, “we are also focusing a lot on the recycling of the machine components themselves, including electrical and pneumatic parts. We are currently at about 50 per cent, we believe we are ahead of many of our competitors. Our strong point, which we promoted already 5-7 years ago, way prior to more recent developments, is related to consumption. The revamped Rc Paint 1800, the top machine in our range, which we displayed in our stand, does not consume even 3 kilowatts, and this too is all certified in numbers. Other machines of ours, which we have not yet officially presented, continue to be monitored in the tanneries of the Arzignano district, where they are working: in this way we can be sure of their top efficiency, before launching them on the market. This year’s forecast in terms of turnover? We expect to close 2023 more or less in line with last year, while for 2024 we are optimistic and confident, hoping that the political scenarios will stabilize.”
The last consideration relates to the results of the Milan trade fair. “This year’s edition,” concludes the owner of DMS Italia and DMS International, “was characterized by the return of foreign operators, an increase compared to recent years, and this is certainly an encouraging sign. The increased presence of foreigners is an indication of the market, especially for foreign countries, while as far as Italy is concerned, the tanning sector is taking a rest after a more active first half of 2023. Internationally, there are many countries, scattered across the various continents, that are trying to get back into the spotlight, so they may decide to invest in Italian machinery, which is among those with the best technology. We hope this can also happen in the East and in China in particular, where, however, recovery is still slow, although we have also seen Chinese professionals at the fair. As far as we are concerned, at the level of contacts and visits, our stand was pretty crowded, especially on the second day and in the morning of the third.”
