DMS presents its “universal” machine at trade fair

At the 2025 Simac Tanning Tech in Milan, the company based in Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) will once again showcase its Rc Lab 800 model, designed not only for the tanning sector but also for textiles, furniture, and coated paper.

A winning strategy is one you stick with. That’s the mindset driving DMS based in Montecchio Maggiore, a town within the Arzignano leather district, as it prepares to feature its most versatile laboratory machine, the Rc Lab 800, at the September edition of Simac Tanning Tech. This Venetian company, renowned for producing and selling finishing machinery for tanneries, continues to champion this model, which is garnering significant success both in Italy and internationally. “For the second consecutive year at the Milan Fair,” confirms Dario Rubbo, co- owner alongside Diego Cailotto, who founded the company in 1997 and operate under the dual brand DMS Italia and DMS International, “we will be exhibiting the Rc Lab 800. Equipped with a conveyor belt for finished leathers, it’s designed for the tanning sector, covering both finishing and gluing stages. However, its features also make it highly effective for textiles, furniture, and coated paper. This year, it will be the sole machine at our booth, specifically to highlight its capabilities. We’re confident that, just like last year, it will attract considerable attention and interest. Our decision to heavily promote the Rc Lab 800 stems from our belief that it will be a major asset for DMS in the coming years. The very first unit, designed and assembled in-house, was sold internationally and is now fully operational within a factory’s workflow. In recent months, we’ve sold another 3-4 similar machines for pre-cut and finished leathers. While the initial concept, as its name suggests, was to design and build a laboratory machine for small-batch production, the market’s strong interest convinced us to also develop the 1800 model, which is more than double in size while maintaining the same quality and ease of use during operation.” However, this isn’t the only investment made this year to enhance and improve DMS’s product range. “Another significant effort defining 2025 involves the integration of innovative upgrades, particularly into our two flagship machines, the pride of DMS production: the Rc Paint 1800 and 3400 versions. This innovative roller coater machine for leather finishing perfectly synthesizes technology, simplicity, and ecological awareness. The Rc Paint continues to achieve great success in both domestic and international markets. It’s suitable for most leather types with varying degrees of softness and is ideal for applying fillers, impregnations, coatings, hot and cold greasing, and foamed products on splits, buffed, and full-grain leathers. It must be mentioned that the tanning sector, which has been static for several years, is impacting the market, especially concerning finishing. However, the wet-end phase simply cannot halt, as it’s indispensable for processing hides.” Regarding the key themes for the 2025 Milan exhibition, Rubbo believes “they won’t stray far from recent editions. We’ll continue to focus on sustainability, consumption efficiency, reduced environmental emissions, and cost reduction. The crisis is undeniably being felt, and it’s no coincidence that the used machinery market is seeing continued growth. As a company that also overhauls machines, we’re experiencing increased demand for these services at the expense of new machine sales. Our research and development work never stops, nor does our focus on international markets. After Milan, we’ll be exhibiting at the international fair in Mexico in October, a strategic location for the American market, particularly the Southern region. Despite everything, we remain optimistic, though it’s difficult to predict a recovery by year-end. Our hope is that consumption will begin to grow in 2026, signaling at least a shift in trend.”
