The revolution of light and color: Instrumenta’s innovations with the HL1 LED light booth

Energy efficiency and chromatic precision are more crucial than ever. In this rapidly evolving market, driven by new European regulations phasing out incandescent and fluorescent lamps, Instrumenta Srl, led by CEO Gustavo Adrián Defeo, is positioning stands out with innovative solutions in lighting and color. The Tuscan company has developed a state-of-the-art LED light booth, the result of years of research and collaboration with Gustavo Ferrari and Alejandra Braun of Funkestudio Madrid.
This technological innovation represents a significant qualitative leap. It can achieve 99.2% of the theoretical Planckian locus, ensuring incredibly accurate color rendering with a CRI (Color Rendering Index) exceeding 99. These parameters translate into unprecedented color fidelity, which is fundamental for design and production professionals. Beyond its exceptional chromatic fidelity, the HL1 booth stands out for its long-term consistency and energy efficiency. The system is also free of heavy metals, offers shadow- and reflection-free illumination and boasts a Class A energy efficiency rating.
A fundamental innovation lies in the collaboration with Konica Minolta, specifically with Daniele Molina. Together, Instrumenta and Konica Minolta are developing a total color/light supply chain management concept. This system allows for bidirectional data exchange between the light booth, spectroradiometer, color management software and spectrophotometer. “With Konica Minolta, we’re bringing a new software to market that allows us to customize light choices internally and predict how colors will change depending on different illuminants,” Defeo revealed. This means a designer or quality control technician can predict how a color will behave under various lighting conditions even before the physical product is made. “Thanks to our advanced measurement capabilities and the new software, we can predict with absolute precision the chromatic behavior of a material in different lighting conditions. This means that, long before the production phase, we will have complete knowledge of how a color will evolve, whether it tends toward specific hues, becomes more intense, or brighter. This is a true revolution in quality control, a quantum leap towards predictive and fully controlled color management,” the CEO concluded, summarizing the revolutionary impact of this technology. Instrumenta’s HL1 not only meets current market demands but also opens new frontiers for the study of color, making precision, efficiency, and sustainability the pillars of a new era for professional lighting.
