Nastrotex Cufra Spa Beyond the limits of imagination

Nastrotex Cufra Spa
Nastrotex Cufra Spa, for 65 years  leader in the production of elastic tapes for underwear, sport and footwear, lays its success on know-how and the ability to innovate. The long experience of the father Mario is now entirely in the hands of his daughter Barbara and son Roberto Cucchi, who look to the future with a cutting-edge approach, promoting the development of technologies and material research while following the tradition of quality.

Barbara Cucchi and Fabio Perico, an expert in management and strategic consulting, talk about it in a new phase of company reorganization. The company, headquartered in Bergamo, follows the evolution of the market by investing in cutting-edge technologies that optimize productivity and implement customer service

What role do technology and innovation play in the company?
Although we manufacture accessories, in every phase of processing we take advantage of all the technologies that the market makes available: from digital systems for frames and printing to computerized processes for a correct management of the operational flows, up to the automation of the warehouse to better the loading and unloading operations.
Technological progress also means sustainable development: the energy produced by the solar panels installed on all the roofs of our plant fulfills 30% of the company’s needs, as well as reducing CO2 emissions in the environment. Nastrotex Cufra Spa has obtained the certification of the Quality Management System according to the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard and the yarns used are compatible with the baby’s skin according to the OEKO-TEX® standard 100 class 1 requirements.

What are the new technological frontiers in the creation of elastic tapes? Is there still room to “invent”?
Product innovation – and in this case I refer to the raw material, for example special carbon-based yarns, silver or bioceramic – goes hand in hand with process innovation. Thanks to the know-how on the potential of the frames gathered over the years we are able to work together with our major customers, offering them sampling and prototyping services capable not only of improving the type of product, but also of expanding our offer range. An added value both for customers and for the company itself.
A technology above all is destined to open new frontiers. A couple of years ago, helped by another company, we designed the first digital tape printing machine, a unique product on the market that we are testing in its infinite possibilities. The system allows the printing, on different materials, of different bespoke designs on the two sides of the tape, which is perfectly dyed in every part, even during its greatest extension. Such machinery will have a double effect on the productivity of the company because on the one hand, it offers a still unpublished article, while, on the other, it optimizes production times and warehouse flows, with a consequent reduction of outlays compared to the purchase and storage of dyes. Now we will be able to develop all the colors of our palette by sourcing exclusively of raw material that is naturally woven.

What are the strengths that make you stand out among competitors?
For sure, one of our strengths is the quality of the service, inextricably linked to the solidity of the company. Top quick deliveries. A wide, varied offer, ensured by our 130 frames, divided between flat, jacquard and crochet, that are able to create 35 million meters of tapes a year, delivered worldwide (57% Italy and 43% abroad).
A company by its nature must be chameleonic and therefore adapt to the needs of the market by continuously investing in research and development, in production capacity and especially in training. Because staff training means company growth and better service for the customer.

What are the new items you will display at Lineapelle’s next edition?
Creating something beautiful without fashion requires it would be a waste of time. We try to do our job well, but in order to complete it we need designers and style offices. From their collaboration come creative hints that let us create samples which are in line with the latest fashion trends; we are going to display such items at the major international trade fairs.
