Officine di Cartigliano: showcasing the 416 Gold Touch staking machine

In a medieval backdrop, Cartigliano exhibited the most advanced machinery in the range at Simac Tanning Tech. The booth was visited by European parliamentarian Hon. Elena Donazzan

A completely medieval ambience and a stand transformed into an evocative “Vegetable Garden.” This is the scenario, once again capable of surprising everyone, created for the 2024 edition of Simac Tanning Tech by the staff of Officine di Cartigliano (Vicenza), a world leader in the design and manufacture of machinery intended for the tanning industry, in particular plants for drying and conditioning hides, staking, radio-frequency systems for finishing and crust, equipment for drying domestic and industrial sludge and machinery aimed at the food industry for pasteurization and sterilization.
“In ancient times, the Hortus Conclusus,” the explanation of President Antonio “Toni” Polato, “was an enclosed garden within medieval monasteries, which represented a quiet and safe oasis of peace, spirituality and manual labor. It was a place where monks took refuge to find inspiration and connection with nature and God, but also a meeting place for personal and social relationships, for an exchange of ideas and for planning for the future. This year we wanted to invoke this concept; with our clients and friends it is always nice to get together to talk about work, as well as cultivate relationships and often plan something together.”
Inside the stand, which was wallpapered with posters and pictures featuring the best products, the latest type of staking machines produced by Officine di Cartigliano, the top of the range represented by the 3400 model, the largest and most advanced, called 416 Gold Touch, was displayed as the only machine. “It is the latest among the staking machines,” Polato pointed out, “which translated literally means ‘golden touch’: it is used in crust to soften the leather after drying and in finishing, again with the same purpose, hence the name we chose. Highly evolved and improved in consumption from the electrical point of view, it ensures lower environmental impact and reduced costs. It has also been improved to lessen the workload of maintenance workers, ensuring greater accessibility and safety for those who work. The result of more than 60 years of experience, it benefits from the best of Cartigliano technology, both in performance and size. The 3400 model, nearly 10 feet wide, can be used for cowhides and bull hides; the intermediate 2400 model is more suitable for calves.”
The 416 Gold Touch is considered a winning model to face the market in the coming years. “The one on display in Milan is in operation in the Cartigliano Testing Room, where it can be tried and tested by interested business owners. During the fair we had requests, coming from all over the world, after all the staker is a universal machine, we are sure it will be a great success. In our plant it is already in production, and in 2025, once we are in full operation, we believe we will be able to make an average of five machines a month, so between 55 and 60 a year, in addition to all the other models in our range, which continues to be abundant and complete.”
The 2024 edition of the Fair was marked by a welcome visit, with an accompanying toast and group photo. “We had the pleasure of having as a guest at the stand,” concluded Dr. Polato, “the member of the European Parliament, Hon. Elena Donazzan, who, being from Bassano by origin and residence, knows our community well. For many years she has served diligently and successfully as a councillor for labor, education, training and re-industrialization of the Veneto Region, and last June she was elected, with a high number of votes, to the European Parliament: for her it is a very important political experience, in which she represents Italy.”
