Riri and Oerlikon Fineparts Expand PVD Technology for Sustainable Luxury

Oerlikon’s luxury brands, Riri and Oerlikon Fineparts, are strengthening their commitment to sustainability by expanding the use of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) in their manufacturing processes. Leveraging the expertise of Oerlikon Balzers, this move aims to solidify Oerlikon’s position as a leading provider of high-quality, eco-friendly finishes for the luxury market.

This commitment is exemplified by the recent installation of a new Oerlikon PVD system at the Fundão plant in Portugal, a center of excellence for surface treatments. Engineered and manufactured by Oerlikon Balzers, this advanced equipment enables Riri and Fineparts to produce large volumes of PVD-finished components with exceptional quality and a uniform surface finish.

“Increased adoption of PVD technology aligns perfectly with our goal of creating high-performance, sustainable products for the luxury market,” says Katharina Rick, President of the Luxury business sector at Oerlikon. “In a challenging time for the luxury market, we are focused on minimizing our environmental footprint while providing our clients with finishes that meet the highest standards of beauty and durability. PVD allows us to redefine metallic finishes in fashion, bringing a new level of sophistication and sustainability to our offerings.”
