S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, technology and innovation in service to the environment

At the Milan Fair, S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, based in Empoli (Florence), showcased its cutting-edge filtration solutions and a selection of its finest products, all deeply aligned with the principles of sustainability

S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche has a longstanding commitment to environmental responsibility. The company specializes in the design, engineering and installation of auxiliary plants and equipment for a variety of industrial sectors, with a particular focus on tannery machinery and water purification systems. This year, the Tuscan company once again took center stage at Simac Tanning Tech, held in September at the Milan fairgrounds, where it presented its latest innovations and most sought- after products. Since its inception in the mid-1980s, S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche has maintained its competitive edge through continuous innovation and strategic expansion into international markets. The company has prioritized two core objectives that address critical needs within the industrial landscape: safeguarding the environment and ensuring workplace safety. “For the 2024 edition of the show,” remarked Roberto Calattini, who leads the Tuscan company together with his partner Fabio Scardigli, “we showcased our latest machinery and systems, highlighting our most innovative filtration solutions, which remain central to our business. Our core product range focuses on filtration, protecting water and air quality and ensuring workplace safety. The market currently demands both sustainability and minimized consumption. However, we’re facing a slowdown, resulting in limited demand as consumption decreases. Despite this, our development work continues and we’ve invested significantly in R&D this year. We’re prepared to meet the needs of both existing and new clients through meticulous case-by-case analysis. While attendance at this year’s fair was comparable to previous years and our products garnered considerable interest, including from international visitors, the prevailing economic climate, exacerbated by global events like wars, presents challenges.” For S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, “Technology at the service of the environment” remains a guiding principle, prominently displayed on their website’s homepage. Calattini and Scardigli emphasize, “Environmental protection is a strategy we’ve always pursued and will further strengthen. This commitment is driven not only by increasingly stringent regulations and stricter air and water quality monitoring, but also by our company belief in sustainability. From the outset, we were confident in this direction, and now that the path of sustainability has been taken, there’s no turning back. We believe in adhering to regulations to protect the well-being of everyone, especially those living near industrial areas, including families and children.” Looking ahead to 2025, Calattini anticipates, “Foreign markets likely hold the greatest potential, even though our current revenue is split 60% domestically and 40% from exports. While Italy has made strides in environmental awareness, other regions, both in Europe but also in more distant continents, lag behind. This suggests that, in the coming years, demand for our products will likely increase internationally as companies adapt to evolving environmental standards. However, we are confident about future prospects.”
