SAPICA fair, Walk into a world of opportunities

The world’s ninth largest manufacturer as well as the fourth supplier of shoes to the USA, Mexico is currently one of the most interesting players in the footwear branch, establishing itself as a reliable partner to companies and buyers hunting for competitive, value-added business opportunities in a stable and safe economic-political environment, on the lookout for quality products at competitive prices ensuring style, creativity and craftsmanship. Boasting more than four centuries of history and experience, the Mexican footwear industry plays a pivotal role in the growth and development of domestic economy, not only in terms of employment and income generation, but also by exporting its creations all over the world. As a matter of fact, a new generation of entrepreneurs is now ready to fully open up to international markets as well as to invest significant resources in order to effectively promote and enhance the values and excellence of Mexican manufacturing on a global scale – a strategic target fostered by implementing long-term support projects conceived by industry associations, as in the case, for example, of Shoes from Mexico, an initiative developed by Ciceg (Cámara de la Industria del Calzado de Guanajuato) in partnership with COFOCE. Featuring an amazing potential for further growth, the Mexican footwear sector has found its natural showcase in Sapica, the International Footwear and Leather Goods Exhibition – one of the most prominent, must-attend industry fairs that brings together manufacturers, retailers and professionals from all over the world, providing them with a unique experience that combines business, fashion, knowledge and entertainment.

SAPICAThe latest edition of the trade show took place last March (13-16) at the Poliforum León: the exhibiting brands showcased their new footwear, bags and small leather goods collections, putting on display a quality, multi-faceted product portfolio that aroused the interest of both local and overseas buyers – the latter on the rise compared to the show held in March 2017 –, who crowded the fairgrounds pavilions on the lookout for well-crafted articles featuring a competitive price/quality ratio as well as for fruitful business and networking opportunities. In addition to the exhibition itself, the programme of the event comprised also an eclectic line-up of complementary activities that further enhanced the visit experience. Starting with the amazing success achieved by the cycle of seminars and lectures held within the framework of the Knowledge Pavilion: according to the official closing data, more than 2,250 people attended the conferences – +56% compared to August 2017 –, an extraordinary result that strengthens Sapica’s prominent role not only as a high-profile business-driven platform, but also as a knowledge hub, able to provide quality contents and to foster an open, lively debate broaching some of the most topical issues: namely, among others, technological innovation, new trade and consumption patterns, trends analysis and digitalization. Equally noteworthy the enthusiast feedback surrounding “México es Moda”, the special event organized outside the exhibition premises that merged business and style, music and entertainment, turning León into a true fashion showcase: buyers, producers, designers of the leather-footwear supply chain and the media admired the creations presented on the runway and met for business, while enjoying the concert and cocktail party. The upcoming edition of Sapica is scheduled from August 28th to 31st, 2018, to be held at Poliforum León.
