THE VISION OF CENTROCOT AT MILANO UNICA: THE NEXUS OF RESEARCH AND CROSS-SECTORAL CIRCULARITY

A long-standing participant at Milano Unica, Centrocot leverages its presence to highlight its strategic value in the industry. As CEO Grazia Cerini explains, “Centrocot has always been at the forefront of technical and innovative textiles and this event provides us with a crucial platform to showcase the power of applied textile research.”
“We want to emphasize how critical technical expertise is, even in the world of traditional textiles, because the two fields are deeply interconnected. Innovations cross-pollinate and influence each other. What originates in the technical sector often makes its way into fashion, and vice versa. While the technical side naturally has very specific functional goals and must be tested for specific performance, we come in when a fashion brand also wants to guarantee certain performance standards. It’s no longer about basic tests; it’s about performance validation, which is our core business.”
Centrocot operates as a technology hub focused on applied research, innovation, and technology transfer. “While we don’t manufacture products directly,” Cerini explains, “we develop and validate solutions and materials in our lab, working closely with companies, institutions, and universities to guide them from concept to industrialization. For example, we’re showcasing DeremCo here at Milano Unica, a European project that promotes the reuse of composite materials through circular and cross-sectoral solutions designed to meet real-world needs.”
“Our institutional link with Milano Unica is also significant,” she adds. “The Italian Textile Foundation, which holds a 51% stake in our company, is also the fair’s promoter. This powerful connection ensures our mission and our presence at this event are perfectly aligned.”
