A day at the R&D DEPT. of Officine di Cartigliano
We passed a whole day, on February 11th, at Officine di Cartigliano’s R&D dept. TANNERY International’s staff has attend to a “normal” day at Cartigliano, leader in design and manufacturing of machineries for the tanning industry.

Drying and conditioning leathers, staking machines, Radio Frequency systems for crust and finishing drying, but also systems for the environmental sector (Sludge Dryers) and Radio Frequency systems for crystallization of polymers as well as for the sterilization and pasteurization of food.
Officine di Cartigliano was founded in 1961, this year they will celebrate 60 years of activity.
The R&D dept., unique in the world, is a place designed and built to give the tanneries the opportunity to increase their knowledge and experience regarding drying, conditioning, staking processes.
Vacuum Dryer A-Cns
It is a big laboratory where the main machineries used for processing leather in the tanneries of all continents are located. A meeting place between Cartigliano technical team and tanners, but also visited by university students and tanning schools and academies.
During the visit, the test took place on a sequence in line, starting from the wet leathers after dyeing up to the dry Crust. All leather processes have been illustrated by Cartigliano technicians who worked side by side with the customer, to achieve the best results.
Wet Stretching model WS 3403
The process begins with a sammying-setting out machine, Wet Stretching modello WS 3403, latest generation Vacuum Dryer model SV6 a-CNS and then continues in the decisive phase of conditioning the leathers with the 2 different Cartigliano technologies: conditioner model TAIC or the latest technology Radio Frequency unit for Crust.
Palissone 416 Nero
Once the hides have been conditioned, we proceeded with the final Staking phase, using the top model PAL 416 NERO, capable to guarantee maximum flexibility for any type of leather.
The next finishing phase was carried out using a roller coater for the application of the product, then dried with RF Finishing, to finally close the process with the staking. www.cartigliano.com
