“For us, the latest records show a positive trend: the turnover of the first quarter 2021 are back to pre-Covid figures.” The data provided by Pierluigi Braggion, president of CORICHEM, is reassuring.

The company, headquartered in Sarego (Vicenza province), is specialized in the production and sales of chemicals and dyes for the tanning sector; it was founded in 1988 and now boasts more than thirty years of experience.

“The pandemic – explains Braggion – caught us during a very positive period: the first quarter of 2020 was excellent, registering an even better performance than 2019, one of our best years. At that time, we planned substantial investments in infrastructure, machinery, plants as well as research projects that were already underway, so we could not stop. We kept on following our path by completing the enlargement of the production departments, equipping them with the most modern digital technologies according to Industry 4.0 standards. As far as research is concerned, we further developed the new beamhouse and tanning processes taking advantage of alternative technologies rather than traditional methods that usually include sulfide, sulfhydrate in the beamhouse process and chromium as a tanning agent. Starting from natural biomass, we have further evolved our innovative POLARIS finishing system, that is now suitable to a wide range of sectors, such as leather goods, footwear, upholstery, automotive.”

Speaking again about the turnover and the market, the president of Corichem underlines that “the future will depend on vaccinations and consequent reopening. People must go back safely to the shops and the normal shopping trend must return. With regards to the footwear sector, considering that in the warehouses there are still many stocks left unsold due to the long closing times, we do not expect a great dynamism in the coming months, which are generally the most thriving. International fairs? For us, especially those abroad represent a possibility of establishing a close relationship with customers that are difficult to reach: their postponement could be an element of slowdown in the commercial sector. Also, the raw materials’ prices, that skyrocketed, and related shortage represents an issue for the whole sector.”
