Based in Cornuda (Treviso province), SIRETESSILE is Europe’s largest group in the field of laminated technical fabrics. The commitment to the development of products to face the pandemic.
A quality, reliable “giant”. These few words can sum up SIRETESSILE’s leadership, company based in Cornuda (Treviso province), currently Europe’s most prominent enterprise in the lamination sector. Established in 1976 by the Baggio family (still at the helm of the firm) to provide technical and laminated fabrics to the most prominent domestic shoe factories, since 1978, it has been focusing on textile production, – the latter gradually expanded and strengthened in over forty years of history, as confirmed by the ever-growing figures, resulting in the development of solutions designed mainly for the footwear industry, but also for the apparel and furnishing sectors.
Today, SIRETESSILE is an industrial group engaged in the manufacturing of high-quality materials, boasting an annual turnover amounting to over €100 million; its core business encompasses, thanks to several divisions, the whole market segment, ranging from the raw material to the finished article, from yarns to technical fabrics. Its array of services comprises textile production, yarn making, weaving, moulding and packaging, processes carried out by more than 250 employees. Featuring a sales network comprising 62 export destinations and 40 import countries as well as several facilities abroad, the Veneto-based enterprise has grown into a benchmark in the textile sector for over 2000 companies worldwide.
Remarkable, high-profile figures, as confirmed by the head of the public relations division, who also stated that “the lamination department alone manages to provide more than 12 million meters of fabric per year, used to supply a large part of the domestic and European markets, as well as a significant share of the non-European one. We rely on specific skills concerning the whole footwear sector, with a keen eye for technical, safety, military and medical shoes.”
Concerning the medical field, how have you changed your strategies during the pandemic?
“Last year, since the early months of the health emergency, we started manufacturing fabrics for the making of medical gowns, using mainly antiviral and antibacterial materials, both in high demand in that moment. However, even before the emergency, some of these products were already under consideration, as in the case, for example, of the insoles for medical shoes, removable and interchangeable, able to ensure higher safety standards inside healthcare facilities. This business sector has been experiencing a significant growth, our clientele comprises both safety and medical footwear manufacturers and insole makers.”
Technology-wise, can you explain the firm’s growth over years?
“Research and development have always been crucial values, lying at the core of the corporate strategies, as confirmed by the firm’s substantial, constant investments in this field. A strategy that, especially lately, has been playing an increasingly pivotal role, so much so that, in the last five years, we have filed over ten patents. Special attention is paid to product and process innovation, an essential effort that helps us steadily provide the clientele with new solutions and that gives to the group the chance to enhance its performances in terms of creation, volumes and expansion. We are often able to keep ahead of market innovations.”
What are the distinctive traits that have helped the group become market leader?
A set of strengths but above all of special people: anyone who becomes part of Siretessile finds a real family more than a job, therefore values, experience, tradition, and creativity mix up together so to guarantee the utmost quality and constant innovation. We have been investing significant resources in research, style and technology, so much so that each article can meet and keep ahead of market demands, while guaranteeing quality, aesthetic care, technical properties and competitiveness. We handle the whole supply chain, from the selection of the finest fibres and tufts up to the delivery, succeeding in monitoring every single manufacturing phase so as to ensure top-notch standards. Last but not least, we establish with the clientele a customized relationship, grounded in proficient collaboration, in order to understand well in advance specific demands and needs: very often, our products are tailored to individual requests. We can say that 90% of our solutions are the result of this direct dialogue.”
What are your reference markets?
“Italy is at the forefront, especially when it comes to footwear, the latter a flagship sector for our Country, and accounts for approximately 60% of the turnover, while the remaining 40% concerns exports. We are stronger in the technical field, from the safety to sports and outdoor shoes, rather than fashion. As a matter of fact, the firm was founded in this region and, right from the beginning, we have been supplying the most prominent brands based in the mountain district in Treviso province; on the other hand, fashion footwear is a later addition, even though its market share has been growing in the last few years. Besides footwear, our materials can be used in other pivotal sectors: apparel, furnishing and the industry.”
What about your stance on environmental safeguard?
“There are many ways to manufacture a product. Our choice has always been clear; that is, the compliance with precise environmental, ethical and social requirements. This is the only way to help a firm strengthen its reputation as a reliable, sound business, the only way to fuel a group’s determination and desire to keep pushing forward. This is undoubtedly a considerable commitment, it is not an easy feat to make high-performance, yet ethically sustainable fabrics. With regard to yarns and base materials, we have already achieved the GRS certification; now we are striving to do the same for the other divisions. Furthermore, we have added products featuring a percentage of recycled polyester as well as articles, especially for the footwear sector, manufactured with natural materials.”
Do you think that the “green” philosophy will be a constant standard in the years to come?
“Absolutely, we are sure that it will be a leitmotif, especially in this sector. We strongly believe in the fact that this is the key to the future, as confirmed by our choice to implement a department dedicated solely to sustainability. SIRETESSILE keeps pursuing a policy aimed at promoting environmental safeguard, circular economy and sustainability. Moreover, there are some projects, at an advanced stage, concerning the use of alternative energy sources inside the firm.”
