Talos Innovazioni, Contapelli laser

Talos Innovazioni, company belonging to the Group that brings together Center2000 and Jeko Solution, launched at Lineapelle a new prototype designed to optimize a strategic phase in the tanning production process

From the very beginning, the group that brings together Center2000 and Jeko Solution, boasting over thirty years of experience in the development of software programmes and computer technologies, has established itself as a benchmark for SMEs in the tanning sector when it comes to the full management of a company’s manufacturing and organizational processes. At the latest edition of Lineapelle, the two enterprises, headquartered respectively in Santa Croce sull’Arno (Pisa province) and in the Arzignano district (Vicenza province), proudly showcased management solutions as well as a “small wonder”, purposefully conceived to foster the tanning sector’s growth, to deal with one the most delicate steps in the processing cycle: leather counting. Said innovation is the result of the research activities carried out by Talos Innovazioni, a start-up run by young “student entrepreneurs”, owned partly by Jako Solution, involved in the development of new technologies and products at the service of manufacturing and industrial operations, featuring top-notch skills concerning, among other things, hardware and software assistance and maintenance.
The prototype has not been provided with a trade name yet; however, it can be described as a leather identification laser system, designed to replace manual counting devices, the latter traditionally used by tanneries during hides selection and classification operations. “The transfer of hides from the source batch to the different options (A, B, C, or D) is a critical moment, that can result in mistakes and in delays with significant effects costs- and organization-wise,” explained Francesco Brocca, Talos Innovazioni’s founder. “The new laser hide counter, launched at the trade show with a scale model, is incredibly precise and it manages to notice, thanks to a sensor that defines a recognition area, when leathers are moved, while keeping track of their number.” The prototype entails an additional upgrade: “We have also arranged the implementation of a high-definition camera, able to generate an identity card, thus making each hide traceable. As a matter of fact, the digitized data can be saved in a server and, consequently, can be easily used by end product manufacturers in the event that they have to find the origin of any flaw or impurity. The next step,” stated Francesco Brocca, “lies in combining the picture of the material with AI systems in order to develop further tests and analysis.”
