Galli Overmec, among innovation and connections

The integration of technology and automation, together with innovative managerial schemes, ensure Galli Spa competitiveness, featuring great
potentials

Focusing on the new generations and investing in the training of young talents represent a great challenge for companies in the sector but it is now increasingly clear that new opportunities arise from diversity.
To Galli Spa, historical leader in the design and development of machines for leather goods, belts in particular, the path is clear. The company, founded in 1979 in Vigevano by Emilio Galli and today led by the second generation, with the sons Carlo and Davide, respectively CEO and production manager, evolved in 2019 with the acquisition of Overmec and the subsequent merger from which a new structure and organization chart were born, boasting three plants close to each other, over 100 models of machinery, 50 employees and 30 patents. In addition to the R&D and machinery production, also the making of the components takes place in-house, so to fulfill directly the company’s needs under one roof.
As the new corporate organization was set up, the primary need was to create a structured, solid, young team: Galli focused above all on its own staff, training them in new specific roles and thus letting them be able to face the new challenges of the market, which is increasingly competitive and though. As a matter of fact, after the merger with Overmec, the need to increase and optimize production has arisen.
“What we want to emphasize,” states Carlo Galli, “is that our company is heavily investing in new professional positions, especially in the field of R&D. We started from an assessment of technological change and from a specific generational perspective. We strongly believe that investing in the new generations is a winning move. In line with this concept, a few months ago we decided to entrust one of our young collaborators with the task of Head of the Technical Department, thus definitively leaving a design context that we could define as ‘obsolete’.
A new era has therefore begun for Galli: from a merely mechanical engineering company to a modern and complete firm that works at all levels, also in automation electronics. To achieve this goal, the investments we made have been significant: among the latest projects, we have created a new department designated only
to research, development and design of new machines, each of which is studied and designed with modern 3D techniques and then presented to the customer even before to be concretely built. In this way we are able to cut both prototyping costs and times, guaranteeing excellent timeliness and service. Combine effective business models to the new interconnected world is now possible thanks to the new
generations.
