Venanzi and Confindustria: “mistakes teach us how to reach a unique organization in the Marche”

AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF HIS COMMITMENT AS PRESIDENT REGENT, THE FORMER NUMBER ONE OF THE FERMO ASSOCIATION LOOKS TO THE FUTURE AND SETS AS HIS FIRST GOAL THE CREATION OF A TRAINING CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR FOOTWEAR

With the election of the new president Fabrizio Luciani on 21 July, the regency of Arturo Venanzi and his colleagues Giulio Cruciani and Maurilio Vecchi Confindustria Fermo, ended. Venanzi was committed for his experience and worked side by side with selected collaborators, to give life to the new territory of Fermo, after the conclusion of the brief experience with the Ascoli province in Confindustria Centro Adriatico. “It was a demanding experience – says Venanzi – but at the same time it was very interesting and we reached our objective without trouble”.
In your opinion, why didn’t the alliance with Ascoli work?
Probably it was due to a stagnant local situation characterized by past legacies, political and power issues and deep-rooted local practice. The program had to be developed further to associate two provinces that are geographically close but still distant un terms of a sole entity. Likely, a false idea of some internal situation was given and disagreement lead then to a separation.
For the future, do you think Confindustria Fermo will become larger in terms of territories?
In my opinion, the mistakes of Confindustria Centro Adriatico and even those of Confindustria Marche Nord will show the regional Confindustria that it is possible to grow with a more specific setting and teach how to overcome the territorial limits that limit our representation. It seems to me that in the current provincial presidency has the requisites to obtain the best results in a short time.
What is the condition of the companies of Confindustria Fermo in terms of reliability?
Their structure is essentially unchanged, despite the difficult times – pandemic followed by war -and the related complications that are increasing exponentially. Now, however, there are several opportunities to be seized, like those offered by the PNRR funds that must be intercepted and used for the relaunch of business, starting from manufacturers linked to consumer goods.
Will the shoe and footwear supply chain remain the beating heart the Fermano industry?
The shoe industry represents the main value of our area, we have over a hundred years of consolidated tradition and we believe in our unique quality as well as in a possible relaunch. In the last twenty years, everything has changed, but there are new opportunities and potential partnerships with luxury brands to whom we can offer know-how, a district and human resources, even at a managerial level.
What are the limits to overcome for the district system?
The most important problem is logistics; the Region is working on infrastructure, an international airport, efficient viability and railways. In this way, the Marche will no longer be just a crossing point but a place easy to reach and on which to invest. There is another main aspect focusing on professional training: companies and associations should cooperate with the public administration to create a center of excellence, following the example started in the Veneto with the Politecnico della Calzatura training institute. This step is essential to train people who want to join our companies and to make young people understand that footwear today is a rewarding profession with interesting economic and career opportunities at qualified levels.
