Pellemoda acquires Second Skin

Gruppo Pellemoda, based in Empoli (Florence), through the Newco Laboratorio Pellemoda srl acquired Second Skin Snc of Martini Catia & C., a company in Orvieto (Terni) specialized in the manufacturing of leather garments, which has 17 employees and a turnover which in 2022 it closed at 770 thousand euros. Founded in Vinci (Florence) in 1979 by Bruno Morelli, but now based in Empoli, Pellemoda, which has always been recognized as an Italian excellence in the manufacture of leather garments for the most important Italian and international fashion houses, with this acquisition further strengthens its know-how and represents a mini holding dealing with luxury in its reference sector.
According to a note, the new company “Laboratorio Pellemoda srl” plans to hire at least another 10 employees in the short term to strengthen the leather garments laboratory structure. 2023 looks set to be an important year for the Group for its business development after an extremely successful 2022: Pellemoda had a turnover of 35 million euros and Hostage, a division of fabric garments, closed at 32 million.
“We are very happy with this acquisition and with further specialization in-house, that is a solution to remedy the lack of manpower and thus increase our production capacity”, said Bruno’s two sons, Azzurra and Giampaolo Morelli, the latter current CEO of Pellemoda and both at the helm of the Group. Strengthened by the experience of over 250 craftsmen distributed in the production units of Empoli, the company is able to create about 200,000 garments a year in leather and fabric, all characterized by particular processes thanks to the intervention of skilled hands, but also to the use of cutting-edge machinery and processing techniques. The historical archive which brings together over 6,000 garments bears witness to the goals achieved year after year and provides food for thought for stylists and product men.
