Basf, a shower of news

At the last edition of Simac Tanning Tech, BASF, a chemical giant that boasts thousands of collaborators all over the world, presented innovative solutions for the footwear sector.
First of all, the company has launched a new shoe concept made entirely with the Group’s materials, whose lightness and high rebound coefficient – a particularly attractive quality for the world of safety – allow both to dampen shocks and to guarantee utmost comfort.
Through close cooperation with shoe companies, BASF has further improved the performance of Elastopan® polyurethane systems used in shoe production. The result is a PU system for winter footwear with exceptional properties: top thermal insulation, maintenance of foot temperature and high comfort even at low temperatures, down to 40 degrees below zero.
Another great news presented is the shoe made entirely with sustainable materials – the ‘MADGAMMA – Intertekk Saturn’ sport and leisure shoe, which joins other already tested green solutions, such as Infinergy®Ccycled.
Finally, Forward AM, the brand of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH, presented an update on materials and 3D printing solutions for the entire footwear design and development process during the event. In addition to samples of moulds, bottoms and soles, visitors had the opportunity to view 3D printed climbing shoes made with the flexible Ultrasint® TPU01 powder.
