At the February edition of Tanning Tech, the spotlights were on the latest innovations showcased by COS.T.A., cutting-edge, yet low- impact solutions.
Technological innovation is an integral part of the corporate policy fostered by COS.T.A. – an acronym standing for Costruzioni per le Tecnologie Avanzate. The company headquartered in Montebello Vicentino (Vicenza province) attended Tanning Tech, setting up a stand shared with Rotomec and Tomboni, COS.T.A.’s reliable partners. “Cooperation and cohesion play a pivotal role, in order to achieve excellent results in the leather processing field,” explained Mariano Rovetti, Sales Manager.
Such partnerships are really important for the Veneto-based firm, as they give the latter the chance to focus on its core business, drawing, if needed, from the partners’ know-how. In this way, attention is fully aimed at the search for new industry solutions.
“This year as well, we put on display some innovations, including a system equipped with moulds that manages to create a customized image on leather using water-based products, a feat in which we are investing significant resources. It is a brand-new process, leading to the manufacturing of beautiful, expensive articles, as confirmed by the positive feedback got in the automotive segment, especially abroad.
The other innovation exhibited at Tanning Tech, on the other hand, is designed for veal finishing and its distinctive trait lies not only in its water-based, low-impact properties, but also in its ability to enhance hides: second-choice leathers become top-quality ones, and so on. A huge advantage. To date, we have used this system only with veals, but we are striving to make it suitable for larger hides as well.
The latest development on display is a small-sized plant devised to develop effectively colours, the latter an interesting sector for us. Given our close ties with tanners, we asked them about their actual needs, therefore, we have tried to manufacture technologies tailored to their requests. More specifically, this machine helps prepare pigments and make small samples, useful tools when it comes to the finishing of crusts and other mid-quality materials, so to speak.”
How much does it cost to keep up one’s competitiveness, to stay at par with the market demands? “We keep moving forward, leaving the others behind us: those who copy can never win. Competition fosters growth, yet, in the tanning sector, unfair practices are common, a “copy and paste” policy that does not benefit anyone. We are satisfied with our work and we will keep heading down this path.”
