DESMA Schuhmaschinen GmbH, designer and manufacturer of production plants for direct soling, will welcome the leading international shoe manufacturers to the 2018 DESMA HouseFair on 19 and 20 September
Groundbreaking software solutions, new processing technologies, pioneering automation tools and customised shoes in the mass production segment – these are just some of the topics that will take centre stage at the 2018 DESMA HouseFair on Wednesday, 19 September and Thursday, 20 September. Every two years, shoe manufacturers and suppliers meet up at the shoe machinery manufacturer in Achim, Germany. 
This year, in addition to 50 co-exhibitors from the supply industry, the Achim-based mechanical engineering company expects more than 700 trade visitors to attend the show, including representatives of many of the world’s top-name footwear manufacturers.
Automation and Industry 4.0 are currently key topics for the footwear industry. “Our customers all over the world are facing the challenge of designing their factories and their production processes even more efficiently in order to reduce costs whilst simultaneously raising the quality of their products,” says DESMA Managing Director Klaus Freese. “We are glad to help them do so with our numerous innovations, which we will be presenting to trade visitors at our in-house fair,” adds Freese.
Demonstrations will include a DESMA rotary table equipped with “Smart Shopfloor” software, a web-based tool that analyses production providing the user with real-time data, as well as the DESMA’s new “Multi Section Injection (MSI)” technology, which makes it possible to produce customised shoes economically. “This enables the cost-effective production of customised footwear on an industrial scale,” says Christian Decker, DESMA Technical Director.
The show will also focus both on automated shoe production, as DESMA has developed robotic and automated solutions based on the experience acquired from the installation of almost 1,300 systems and design: a highly qualified and creative team at DESMA enables this “Design for Manufacturing” approach so to achieve optimum results.
“We look forward to welcoming the whole spectrum of the international footwear business to Achim in September, from material supplier and component manufacturer to shoe producer. Our house fair is an excellent opportunity for them to get to know new suppliers and processes and also to meet many old friends,” say the two DESMA Managing Directors.
“For these two days, Achim will once again be the centre of the global footwear industry.”
