Frasson Rubbermac, suole sostenibili

The Frasson-Rubbermac Group looks to the future by investing in product innovation and process optimization

The Group, specialized in the production of rubber, PU, TPU and EVA soles and bottoms for hiking, mountaineering, accident prevention and fashion footwear has been able to transform the period of poor work caused by Covid into an opportunity to implement above all the sustainability goals. The path to reducing waste and landfilling goes through the new E-compound patent, a compound obtained from a mix of materials made with an amount of recycled which, for rubber, counts for 40% of the entire compound.

“The real challenge – explains Alberto De Rossi – was to not compromise the performance of the product, letting it be as performing as a sole made out of 100% virgin raw material”. The other eco-friendly patent, of which Frasson has already been the exclusive licensee in Europe for some years, is called Ecobond and is a completely solvent-free gluing system, an alternative to the traditional one. “The film is able to glue both the various components of the sole to each other and the sole to the upper. There is a growing demand from customers to apply the film also on the edge of the sole, which will only have to be brought back to temperature before proceeding with the gluing of the upper, thus avoiding any dispersion into the atmosphere of chemical substances harmful to the health of the operator.”
Finally, process technology is in progress: “The goal is to increase energy efficiency with the same performance, productivity and competitiveness of the company.”
