Galli, News for the Industry 4.0

At the fair, Galli SpA launched a new software platform to support manufacturing companies optimizing the production process

“I was confident that the fair was a priority for the restart: the show exceeded expectations, thanks also to highly qualified and seriously committed trade operators. The downsizing of the exhibition area did not hinder the participation of those who believed in the need to recreate a climate of trust and expectations were fully satisfied,” says Carlo Galli, CEO of the family business, at the latest edition of Simac Tanning Tech. “Due to the reorganization of the spaces, this year we had to make a selection, favoring the most significant and representative leather goods machines made after the restyling work carried out so far. The new stand, however, proved to be pleasant, more liveable, less chaotic and difficult to manage.
After the acquisition of Overmec and its merger with Galli – continues Carlo Galli – we needed to integrate all our systems both from a structural and interconnection point of view according to the Industry 4.0 model. From the evolution of the organization needs of production processes, new software platforms have been created for data management and real-time machines monitoring. These platforms can be integrated with most of the ERP/MES systems on the market and give the customer the possibility to operate on multiple production sites, departments or processing lines. The next goal will be the upgrade to a predictive maintenance both on an ordinary and extraordinary basis: the benefits that this will bring in terms of efficiency are more than evident.
Today the leather goods and footwear sectors – concludes Galli – are driven to take the big step towards the use of Industry 4.0 machinery. Their production systems must necessarily evolve, but without losing the awareness that they are dealing with an artisanal product and with a material such as leather which is naturally alive and never equal to itself.”
