QUICK-OFF: GAMAR ITALIA’S LACE-LOCKING EYELET
The traditional function of a lace-locking eyelet is to prevent the lace string, subjected to continuous stress, from deforming and tearing the upper near the hole. The eyelet is a reinforcement within which the lace can slide without too much friction. To the sliding concept Quick-Off adds locking functionality. The locking option in the eyelet body is particularly useful for high-performance technical and sports shoes or even just for all those casual brands that want to offer more value and comfort to their styles. Quick-Off works in a simple way: within the contour of the hole there is a free zone where the lace moves as it traditionally does in an eyelet, and a second stop zone where the lace can be dragged to achieve immediate locking and prevent it from sliding. This is done through a natural, intuitive and quick gesture, accommodating the natural biomechanical movement of the hand during the knotting phase of the string. This has revolutionized the accessory for laces, because, once brought into the locking slot, it remains firm in the given setting, without sagging in tension, so that the execution of the final tied knot is also made easier. Conversely, to release the lace from the lock, it is sufficient to pull the lace in the opposite direction from the direction of pull. The advantage of this revolutionary concept is that it is level with the shoe upper and does not protrude, therefore does not run the risk of catching on obstacles or breaking against some obstacle. It is significantly more durable than traditional hooked “U” hooks, and there are aesthetic and performance enhancements suitable and applicable for both urban environments, and sea and mountain conditions. Thanks to its compact, lightweight structure, Quick-Off can be produced in zamak or steel, preserving the same ease of assembly as a common eyelet, or molded in plastic or bio-plastic composite with a sewable underlying flange.
