GEMATA, The company based in Trissino (Vicenza province), stood out at the latest edition of the fair, where it showcased several cutting-edge machines including STARFACE.
GEMATA is strengthening its role as a world leading company in the production of leather finishing machines and plants. A comprehensive range of first-rate technologies that comprises roller machines, foam generators, splitting and dedusting machines as well as drying tunnels, finishing plants, engraved rollers, spray plants, dyeing, handling and stocking machines. An ample selection of said machinery was put on display by the company based in Trissino (Vicenza province) – in the heart of Arzignano’s tanning district -, at the latest Tanning Tech edition held in February at the Rho-fieramilano fairgrounds.
“We registered a satisfying turnout and aroused a lot of curiosity,” explained Gianni Maitan, owner and president of the firm, “as we had announced our intention to launch several innovative models during the fair, new technologies aimed at winning over the global market. Starting with STARFACE, a state-of-the-art, patented roller machine, purposefully conceived to apply chemicals on the flesh side of leathers without turning it upside down during the finishing phase. Its structure is similar to that of traditional models, as it is equipped, in the lower area, with an engraved roller that processes the bottom side of the hide, while, on the upper part of the machine, there is a rubber-coated roller that guarantees mechanical transport. The use of STARFACE let two different chemical products to be spread on the two sides of leather. The plant is already working in one of the main tanneries of Arzignano while a second will be operational at the end of May.”
A turnover amounting to €35,5 million and 116 employees: pivotal challenges are awaiting GEMATA in 2019. “Our export share,” added Maitan, “reaches approximately 80% and our sales network encompasses almost all the countries worldwide.
And yet, there are still margins for growth, as confirmed by the strong demand for many of our models: this is the case of the splitting machine STARSPLIT that, thanks to the automatic feeding of tripe leather, guarantees a constant splitting thickness resulting in a marked decrease in the shaving of the grain side.” www.gemata.it
