The Serafini Group, a Marche-based leading company in the production of support materials and adhesive tapes for footwear, leather goods, leather clothing and the automotive industry, has an extremely positive approach, which is reflected in an unceasing increase in turnover and in a very effective expansion policy. Thanks to the passion, ambition and optimism that animate the company, the Serafini Group is now made up of eight affiliated companies and production sites in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Colombia, and boasts a leading position in the sector, despite the growing complexity of the relationship between business and the market.
We met Roberto Elisei, Sales Manager in Italy, who passionately carries out his project, aimed at supporting the growth of the inside and outside community of the company.
We also talked to Leonardo Romoli from ARS Srl, partner of the Group, and Sergio Ugolini, Director of Ars Sutoria S.L., a Spanish company specialized in the fabrics processing, which has recently acquired a new role within the Serafini Group, becoming the company’s fifth production unit. What have been Serafini Group’s latest developments?
“In recent years, the Serafini Group has made great progress in this area, continuing to invest not only in professional figures but also in advanced warehousing infrastructure. Recently, the company inaugurated a new vertical warehouse with a considerable investment, leading to a significant increase in the number of staff employed in the management of the warehouse itself. Thanks to the central WMS (Warehouse Management System), the new automated warehouse with trans-elevators will make it possible to maximize storage efficiency and the management of the picking process, reducing the times for preparing and processing orders and for restocking inventories. Furthermore, the installation of the WMS software will allow the warehouse to communicate with all the company activities and branches abroad, becoming an effective source of data and information for the various operators that can be analyzed in real time. We have also activated a logistics center adjacent to our headquarters in Civitanova, a great ‘lung’ destined to revolutionize the quality of the service provided to the customer, especially in such a difficult period, in which the supply chain has suffered great slowdowns due to the shortage of raw materials and the soaring cost of transporting goods in containers”.
Lineapelle represents an important appointment for your company. What are the novelties you will be presenting at the next edition?
“Lineapelle is still an unmissable event to increase visibility and contacts as well as an opportunity to see old customers again. During the event, which in our opinion is increasingly oriented towards foreign customers, we have the chance to meet representatives of overseas markets, even if in Italy we are more facilitated thanks to the presence of our agents who regularly visit our customers. The innovations that we will display mainly concern eco- sustainable materials: Serafini was one of the first companies in the sector to obtain the GRS – Global Recycle Standard certification in the textile field and among the first to introduce compounds obtained from organic waste in the manufacturing process of its products. Today we are starting to reap the first significant results in terms of business, although there is still a widespread fear that eco-sustainable materials do not offer the same performance as traditional ones.”
What were the key factors that enabled the Serafini Group to achieve a significant increase in turnover despite the difficult period we’re going through?
“The decision to triple the content of our warehouses was a very important choice for us, especially in light of the considerable investments we have made in this sector. Despite the difficult period, we decided to go against the tide and focus on satisfying needs of our clients in a significant way. This choice has led to an increase in our turnover from around EUR 10 million to EUR 15.5 million in just one year, which is a major achievement for our industry. We are also extremely proud to have achieved a similar increase in our foreign offices, such as in Mexico, where turnover rose from EUR 9 million to EUR 14 million. Despite the difficulties, we performed a real miracle. The end of the Russian-Ukrainian war will mark a new beginning for everyone, where only the most skillful will be able to play their cards successfully.”
