Italsform is back again at Lineapelle with new soles, featuring an inimitable taste for design, color choices and finishes. But, above all, boasting an eco- friendly vocation, made in the company’s research laboratories by optimizing the resources available, respecting the environment and the health of consumers.
The prototype presented this year to stylists and shoe factories is a sole made of certified vegetable tanned leather, free of chemical dyes and synthetic materials. “The chemically untreated leather is a byproduct of the food industry that can in turn be recycled at the end of its life, as well as the related leftovers and processing cuttings; in this way, instead of being disposed in landfills, leather can be reintroduced into the production cycle,” explains the company manager Viviana Pirini. “The new sole made according to ancient and reliable methods, hand-dyed with natural water-based dyes and without protective plastic ‘linings’, is a ‘circular’ product, completely recyclable after its use and therefore destined to reduce the production of waste. From a technical point of view, durability and performance are identical, if not better, than the classic leather sole used for elegant or casual footwear; on the aesthetic side, however, for now it is not yet possible to obtain some characteristics, as brilliance and color range, we are normally used to. Some types of finishing are also excluded, such as lacquering.”
The success of the coconut fiber sole goes on: this product is appreciated for its lightness and insulating properties. “Unfortunately, Covid has stopped for now the research started to improve its performance and functionality.”
Finally, the reworked cork soles and the micro soles, a lightweight, flexible, waterproof foam material, are always very popular. “This year, warm and natural tones prevail. We have equipped ourselves with specific machinery for cutting micro so to let us be able – together with the know-how of our in-house modeling department – to offer models with an always original and cutting-edge design.”
