Vibram presents the “foldable shoe”

Vibram, world leader in the development and production of high-performance rubber soles for outdoor activities, leisure, work, fashion, orthopedics and repair, presented the “foldable” shoe, which combines style and ease. Inspired by the ancient Japanese art of origami which is based on the idea of folding a sheet of paper following precise geometric patterns, the Varese-based company has developed something new and unexpected: a folding shoe with a three-dimensional design, ideal for traveling and perfect to be carried around. Vibram One Quarter breaks the mold while keeping Vibram soles’ high-performance standards in ¼ of its total volume.
The Vibram sole in Gumlite compound features the Litebase technology, an innovative solution designed in order to lessen the weight of the sole by 30% by reducing the rubber sole bottom by 50%, while maintaining the position and shape of the blocks unchanged and without therefore affect performance. The result is a very light sole that boasts the same grip, traction, durability and wear resistance of a traditional Vibram sole.
The upper, on the other hand, is different for each model and makes the product unique: canvas, recycled leather, hemp, velvet and linen are just some of the materials chosen to match each shoe with a different look, suitable for all occasions. Finally, the bamboo fiber in the insole increases comfort and keeps the foot cool.
