The Dantesque path dedicated to Italian footwear will be taken up next September: there is great anticipation for the next edition, after the success registered last February. Acknowledged as one of the world’s most prominent footwear trade shows, Micam goes on with its allegorical journey in the world of the Divine Comedy. The editions held in 2017 put in the limelight “Lust” and “Seduction”; 2018, the year of Purgatory, first starred “Vanity” as the main protagonist of the February show, while another cardinal sin, “Envy” has been chosen as the leitmotiv for the upcoming event: as a matter of fact, from September 16 th to 19 th , 2018, Fiera Milano Rho will open its doors to bring together the main industry players putting on display the 2019 Spring/Summer collections. Thanks to a highly strategic scheduling, the last day of the fair will overlap with the beginning of the Milan Fashion Week, thus underlining the glamour and appeal of a one-of-a-kind business platform providing plenty of networking and trade opportunities on a global level – the perfect showcase to celebrate the creativity and workmanship of the attending companies, both Italian and foreign ones. The 85 th edition welcomed 44,227 visitors, out of which 60% came from abroad. In terms of overseas markets, the data highlighted a marked growth in the number of Russian buyers (+22%), once again back to the top. Noteworthy also the turnout levels of professionals coming from Ukraine (+7%) and, as far as the EU is concerned, from Germany and France, respectively +9% and +1%. As per tradition, the upcoming September show will also feature several interesting theme areas and product categories – among the sections included last February, a special mention goes to the Emerging Designer section as well as to the exhibition entitled “When is a shoe not a shoe: Fakes and rarities”, set up in the Fashion Square to address the counterfeiting issue. The new protagonists of Micam’s journey in 2019 will be “Art” (February 10 th to 13 th ) and “Beauty” (September 15 th to 18 th ). www.themicam.com
