Nexus Automation, innovations at Tanning Tech

At the trade fair in Milan, from 19 to 21 September 2023, NEXUS, a company from Montorso Vicentino, will present the latest versions of automation at its stand

For NEXUS of Montorso Vicentino, a municipality in the Arzignano district, the Tanning Tech trade fair in Milan from 19 to 21 September 2023, will be an opportunity to present the latest innovations and technological advances, especially related to next-generation software. The Veneto company celebrating its 25 years of activity, led by co-owners and partners Mirco Roncolato and Luca Fracasso, specialises in the design and production of electrical and electronic equipment for the automation of plants and machines for the tanning industry in particular.
“At the trade fair in Milan,” Mirco Roncolato announces, “we will be exhibiting the latest version of automation dedicated to barrel shelters at our stand, equipped in particular with the new LWG regulations that have come into effect. These certifications, which are now compulsory in order to present themselves on the Italian and foreign markets and attract customers, make it necessary to have these new components, including data exchange, interconnection with MES between the various systems, and management software”.
At the NEXUS stand there will be an opportunity to understand the features of the ‘PESOTEC CARELLATO’ weighing unit. It had already been presented at Tanning Tech in the 2022 edition in an experimental form and has now been further refined and improved to ensure maximum efficiency. “Generally within each production area,” says Roncolato, “it is necessary to physically bring the products close to the scale and weigh them. We, on the other hand, with the aim of reducing time loss, have devised the reverse route, represented by an intelligent wi-fi scale that can be moved. After each weighing, a label is attached to the weighed batch and the data is automatically transferred to the PC. In this way it is possible to record all the various weighings, ultimately we have focused on data traceability”.
The technological evolution that has involved the tanning industry over the years is truly remarkable. “If we go back over the years, not even that many, we can say that proposing a simple computer seemed like science fiction, but over time it has proved necessary, practically indispensable. By now, all tanning entrepreneurs have realised the necessity of equipping themselves with innovative tools and solutions, which, moreover, allow considerable economic savings in terms of consumption and processing times”.
The stand of the Vicenza company will not feature, also for reasons of space, the BIG BROTHER, the new automatic system for stacking hides in the tanning sector, destined to characterise the next few years. “The tests have been completed,” says Roncolato, “this machinery was active in a tannery in the province of Vicenza for several months, while now it has returned to the Arzignano district. This will allow us to bring customers who come to visit us to see it live. It is not excluded that we will set up a ‘live’ connection from the Fair, as happened last year, which will allow us to connect with the tannery hosting the machinery and actually see it in operation. Soon we will be starting with production’.
The overall scenario that the owner of the Vicenza company makes is optimistic. “For us, the 2023 edition of Tanning Tech,” he concludes, “represents an important edition, because for the first time we are presenting ourselves in Milan as exporters abroad, in particular to Mexico and Spain, but other countries will soon be added: a strategy that will allow us to increase our turnover and, above all, to increase the export quota. This fair is one of the most important at international level, so we are convinced that the interest and curiosity of foreign operators towards our products will be high. After the years characterised by the Covid emergency, the Chinese and Asians in general, as well as South Americans, will be back, and in the meantime we are looking for foreign representatives, so the Milan fair could also become important in this area’.
