O.M.M. OFFICINE MINUTERIE METALLICHE, company based in Montegiorgio (FM), believes in the evolution of Italian manufacture. Its constant research leads to the development of increasingly innovative, eye-catching and beautiful products. Always in full compliance with health and environmental standards. Family-run business at its second generation, O.M.M. Officine Minuterie Meccaniche is an all-Italian company specialized in the production of high-end accessories to be used in the footwear, leatherware and apparel sectors. State-of-the-art processing techniques and an efficient customer service are two of the strategic values that, since 1969, lie at the core of the corporate philosophy. We talked about this with Giorgio Nerpiti, one of the owners of the historic firm based in Montegiorgio, Fermo province.
Giorgio Nerpiti, can you tell us more about the establishment and development of the company? O.M.M. Officine Minuterie Metalliche was founded in 1969 by Antonio Nerpiti and Giacomo Belleggia, aimed at manufacturing accessories conceived to fulfill the creativity of designers and of the world’s most celebrated fashion houses, to be used in sectors – namely, footwear and leatherware – in which the utmost care for details plays a pivotal role. Together with my father – who just turned eighty and is still at the helm of the company –, Andrea Belleggia and I keep pursuing innovation, on the lookout for the perfect balance between high-level craft techniques and the computerization of the production process. All our articles are made in the corporate plant based in Montegiorgio: quality, attention to components and refined materials have actively contributed to turn O.M.M. into a renowned enterprise, widely praised both nationwide and internationally.
What is your core business? We produce metal accessories employing different techniques – including casting, die casting, precision casting, blanking and CNC (Computer Numerical Control). The materials we use the most are brass, zamak, kajem, iron, aluminium and precious metals such as gold and silver. Our whole catalogue is entirely manufactured in Italy, especially in Montegiorgio and, more in general, in the Marche region.
What are your main strengths and distinctive traits when dealing with the customers? Production speed and quality. We take care of our clientele thanks to a complete, efficient assistance service. We are specialized in the manufacturing of customized accessories, adding, when required, the customer’s signature or brand; moreover, we can easily develop a brand- new project starting from the sketches born from the creativity of each single designer.
What does it mean to carry on R&D projects in your sector? We have always invested in research, a strategic asset resulting from the love for our work. We keep developing new products and samples, testing different materials and combinations. Our company was established almost fifty years ago and yet, despite our long-standing experience, we still get very excited for each new innovation, even when the solution has always been “right under our nose”. We carry on R&D projects by paying close attention to the whole world, especially to what lies beyond our sector.
To be successful on the international markets, it is deemed imperative to invest in sustainability. What kind of initiatives are you supporting? What about future projects? On the one hand, the constant upgrading of machinery and the technical innovations, while, on the other, a close eye on the workers’ safety and health. We are strongly aware of the fact that development goes hand in hand with other pivotal values such as the utmost regard for the employees’ rights and environmental safeguard. For this reason, we have implemented a cutting-edge plant for dry metal finishing featuring a low water consumption level. Last but not least, we are always at the forefront in sponsoring local sports associations as well as in terms of social engagement, by financing projects focused on health care, poverty alleviation and education. Equally important are effective communication strategies and a “digital philosophy”. What can customers find on your new website? Recently launched, our new website doesn’t include the entire catalogue, but only selected images that showcase the different processing techniques available to the acquired clientele as well as to prospective customers. It’s not an e-commerce tool, but our business card: we strongly rely on a direct, face-to-face approach. www.ommonline.com
