OFFICINE DI CARTIGLIANO, world leader in the design and production of innovative low temperature drying systems for various materials, has joined the European Agenda: 14 of 19 items have already been acquired
OFFICINE DI CARTIGLIANO has been a leader for over 60 years in the design and production of innovative low-temperature drying systems addressed to leathers for the automotive, furniture and fashion markets. Thanks to drying, the environmental division reduces the mass and volume of civil and industrial sludge and wet residues from industrial processes, thus reducing storage costs.
The attention to the collaborators’ wellness and to the territory along with the commercial choices have meant that the theme of the FAIR became the communication of the objectives of the European Agenda 2030: 14 of the 19 points comprised in the international programme have been fulfilled already. OFFICINE DI CARTIGLIANO introduced itself as an exhibitor at the 2022 edition of Tanning Tech fair, hosted at the Milan Fair from last September, with the slogan “Cartigliano responsible Technologies” and the hashtag #cartigliano2030.
“We are a constantly evolving company – confirms the President Antonio “Toni” Polato, we met at the booth where we had the warmest welcome – and in this period of profound changes, our effort is to more and more design and build systems that work at low temperatures, with the aim of minimalizing energy consumption. We have always been inclined to save energy, but now with gas and electricity increasing prices, we are proceeding with a further transformation. One of the latest novelties is a compressor, a heat pump to feed a vacuum, instead of a boiler for hot water and condensers for cold water. We had worked with this system together with the entrepreneur Rino Mastrotto in 1978 at the Paris Fair already: using a compressor, we created a heat pump. After about 45 years, the system is bac. Thanks to our longlasting experience along with the latest technology, we created modular groups with 3 to 4 compressors joined together and called POREG (POwer REGenerators), which guarantee a saving of 43%. An enormous advantage if you consider that the system, connected to machines which in turn have high efficiency and low consumption, allows hides to be dried at 22 degrees”.
We have always focused on low temperatures at OFFICINE DI CARTIGLIANO. “It has always represented our entrepreneurial strategy – confirms the President: when we talk about leather, this is the only way to grant the original characteristics like naturalness, beauty, fullness and circularity of this prestigious product. We were born as dryers, in over 60 years we have evolved and have always improved, drying everything from Formula 1 tires to polymers, from food to pharmaceuticals. Our customers love us and are very thankful. We were the first company in the world specializing in drying sludge at temperatures from 75 to 80 degrees, which means considerable energy savings, compared to competitors’ plants and 250 to 400 degrees temperatures. We offer a further advantage, as we can design the most suitable systems depending on the product to be dried”.
“By now, energy saving – concludes Antonio “Toni” Polato – has become an obligatory path rather than a choice, from an economic point of view. If we talk about tanneries, it should be noted that in Germany and Spain the respective governments and bodies have begun to guarantee subsidies and incentives to companies who switch from fossil materials to electricity. The most obvious advantages are destined for solar energy, a system that is perfectly suitable for our machines. Our plants called “Tanneries of the future” use of photovoltaic panels and many top customers from all over the world claim this. At least until 2030 our machines, including the new through-feed staking machine, will only work with photovoltaics. We have left work behind for two years, even in terms of research and development, to conceive and launch new projects”.
