A benchmark in the safety footwear field, Over Stampi opens up to new opportunities thanks to the positive contacts with the high- end fashion sector.
There is a predicament weighing down successful enterprises and professionals: how can you keep this leadership? In the industrial world, to do so is often more difficult that to actually get to the top. Over Stampi, renowned company specialized in the field of injection moulds, seems to have found the right solution: to invest, to constantly reinvent itself, to think big.
A trend confirmed by Matteo Sarto, Project Manager of the Cassolnovo- based enterprise (Pavia province), while referring to the new technologies showcased at the latest edition of Simac and to the top-notch results achieved, turnover-wise, in 2019. “Our main innovation lies in the great interest shown in the polyurethane spray moulding sector, helping Stemma and its clientele when it comes to the new machines they are developing. We have started to welcome customers dealing with this type of product, like ankle boots made with polyurethane spray, and this is the trend we are striving to carry on.”
Polyurethane spray rhymes with high-end fashion, a sector Over Stampi has been paying close attention to for quite some time: “Yes, we have kicked off the production of soles for haute couture brands. For example, we have manufactured the moulds for the new Alexander McQueen soles, soon to be launched on the market; we are trying to focus on the luxury segment and the feedback has been positive.
We have begun to branch out the production and to address also firms manufacturing peculiar articles, that might require an equally peculiar mould-making technology.”
To pursue a new goal does not entail overlooking the corporate core business, that is, safety footwear moulds. As a matter of fact, thanks to the investments made in the last few years, Over Stampi has managed to increase its manufacturing capacity, in order to further grow in the safety sector as well. “Safety footwear accounts for 50 to 60% of our overall production; we cooperate with the most prominent brands, both in Italy and abroad, and we have developed our own way to design moulds, thus speeding up and automating the manufacturing cycle. The safety mould is rather complex, it takes time to make it right: we have developed our know-how and now we can proudly say that, production-wise we are really fast.”
Diversification and significant investments as a growth-oriented strategy. Sarto outlined the innovations provided by Over Stampi for the safety footwear sector: “Concerning this specific field, aluminium moulds with several types of joints are usually used; we now carry out in-house the whole mould-making process and this is a true asset. Once, joints were made by qualified craftsmen: today, several have retired and just a few are still active, but they have struggle to make deliveries, thus affecting the performances of those companies still relying on them. We chose another way, investing a lot in this decision. It took us a year, but now we are incredibly fast and, in addition to that, we use PCs: therefore, it is no longer a handcrafted process, but a numerical-control, fully automated procedure. This results in higher precision, a strategic benefit compared to the competition.”
