Vivid colors, hand-sewn, vegetable-tanned leather, artisan finishes. These are the features of Melvin & Hamilton footwear, skilfully blending from over three decades the value of craftsmanship to the most fanciful fashion trends. Karim and Olivier Choukair, sons of the founder Rajab, who in 1988 gave founded the brand, for several years have been taking care of the creative aspect of the company, designing unique models featuring a classical appeal, but made with ad-hoc homemade colours and details, including specific paints to hand-dye leather and rubber soles conceived specifically for timeless shoes.
The sneaker is this season’s protagonist: it has been revisited according to the typical inspiration of the brand: flashy colors, bold prints, impactful details. “Of course, we didn’t register the usual flow – Karim tells us at the company’s stand –, also considering that travel restrictions still affect many countries worldwide, but I must admit that we are seeing some signs of a restart. We hope to return to pre-pandemic rhythms as soon as possible.”
Melvin & Hamilton’ s collections, for both men and women, are inspired by the multicultural roots of the two young designers, who still follow the values of their father keeping creating daring items by exploring today’s lifestyle beyond fashion while guaranteeing its customers a range of handcrafted footwear, fresh, young yet elegant and refined.
