
Product diversification and internationalization are the keywords that have allowed the Spanish company Plaginsa to tackle the crisis caused by the pandemic
Founded and chaired by Gaspar Navarro, Plaginsa boasts an almost forty-year history in the manufacture of rubber and EVA sheets for the production of shoe soles. In the aftermath of the lockdown imposed by the Coronavirus, the Spanish company from Alicante firmly looks at the future. Manuel Martinez, executive manager, highlights its primary goals.
Manuel Martinez, you have always attended Lineapelle, but for obvious reasons you couldn’t participate in the last edition. What does it mean for you? Unfortunately, the market is stuck, and participating or not would not make any difference. The important is communicating all your customers that you are ready to deliver whatever they need, whenever they may need.
How has the management of the Coronavirus pandemic in Spain affected your production and organizational system? Obviously, production was reduced during some months, and company had to adapt to that new surroundings. Happy to confirm we are coming back to the pre-Covid situation. Product diversification and international expansion have played a key role for this.
The spring-summer 2021 collection reflects your strong commitment to the environment. What are the new trends and developments in sustainability for the fall-winter 2021/2022 season? Yes, the ECO line is becoming strong and stronger and we are intended to enlarge it. Consumers are aware about the importance of caring for the environment, and our commitment is contributing to a better one not only with recycled products but also with a respectful use of the resources, emissions reduction, etc.
The pandemic resulted in the instant and complete loss of certainties. What, in your opinion, are the strategies to be implemented today to overcome the impact of the crisis linked to Covid? It is not possible to advise strategies to be implemented so easy. There are many facts related to that. In our company, by focusing in the product diversification and in the international development we are making it, but this strategy did not start this year.
