PROSSIMAPELLE, Gsc Group challenge to the market with natural leathers

Gsc Group, based in the Arzignano district and already a protagonist at ProssimaPelle, will offer the same collection in an even more eco-sustainable key at the Milan Fair at Tanning Tech thanks to the new OMW technology which ennobles a waste from the mills and reuses and treats it to tan leather

It was a at the ProssimaPelle, at Villa Cerini in Castelfranco di Sotto. And for sure, it is also going to be in the limelight at the at Simac Tanning Tech Fair in Milan, scheduled next September 19 – 21. Gsc Group, located in the Arzignano district and leader in the development and production of chemical products for different segments of the tanning sector, including retanning, fatliquoring and finishing, drum dyes and pigments, has always been at the forefront among the main players in the sector.
“At this edition of ProssimaPelle – explains Diego Cisco, Marketing and Export Sales Director, whom we interviewed during the event – we presented a collection of waxed items, namely destroyers, which means “worn” look articles, aiming at obtaining the most natural leathers possible. At the same time, we also displayed a series of vegetable-tanned leathers, processed with olive oil refining wastewater, a technology called OMW (Olive Mill Wastewater). Basically, these new collections, arranged according to the themes proposed for 2023 by the organizers, mainly reflect our R&D work we carried out recently.”
Great expectations for the second appointment of the year, after the one in February, with Lineapelle in Milan. “At this important international exhibition – specifies Cisco – only natural leathers tanned with our OMW technology, with a green concept, of utmost sustainability and circularity will be displayed at our stand. It is a brand-new innovation, presumably for the entire Italian tanning sector; we will show the finishes, made so far with chrome, featuring natural and sustainable conception. We are sure that this new range will raise everyone’s interest. We do not hide the fact that we expect excellent feedback from the September edition, it is an important showcase at an international level, gathering operators and insiders from all over the world. We wish to make people understand the exceptional nature of the OMW project and the strong commitment that the company has towards to sustainability, a choice already made for many years, with the aim to be more appealing for the market, that is finally rapidly embracing all concepts related to green attitudes.”
In its all-round growth path, Gsc Group confirms sustainability as its trump card. “It is part of our way of being a company – states the Export Sales Director – but in addition to being a business strategy, I must say that our players and customers are also increasingly asking us to be respectful of the environment. In the tanning sector we were the first in Italy to equip ourselves with the C02 brand, a tag achievable only by becoming a member of the Carbon Foot Print Italy platform. We have also been among the first to present the sustainability report: we have been there for years, therefore long way prior to today’s needs. These requests expressly come from high fashion, to which the whole tanning industry will slowly adapt. In the meantime, the regulations are becoming more and more restrictive, so in the next few years it will no longer be a question of choices: in the end everyone will be more or less forced to do so, an obligation that will concern the entire supply chain, from the factory to the final product inside our homes.”
The turnover of the Gsc Group is roughly divided for 60% in Italy while the export share is 40% to over 50 countries. “Nowadays it is no longer a matter of geographical areas, given that we are renowned almost everywhere. Our mission is to best satisfy the requests of our customers and try to develop innovative projects together, always paying particular attention to sustainability: today new projects are not launched if they don’t comply at least with these requirements.”
