The PT Leather inDesign project aims at promoting the integrated development of innovative products by the Portuguese Leather Industry.

This project will kick-start the operation of this change. For this, individual actions will be carried out in the companies, integrating in their collections the functional innovation and the implementation of the concepts of circular economy. This work will also give rise to a national collection – collection “Leather from Portugal”.
This collection will be presented at national level to promote the demonstration effect for other sectors, such as:
Chemical producers for the leather and footwear sector;
Footwear industry;
Confectionery – clothing;
Leather goods industry;
Other industries that work the skin or that are linked to fashion.
The collection “Leather from Portugal” will also be presented internationally for promotion in foreign markets of the level of product differentiation that the national tannery sector can offer.
The collection “Leather from Portugal” will integrate the following areas of tendency:
Comfort;
Health;
Green product;
Intelligent product;
Vintage.
These actions will be developed by CTIC – Centro Tecnologicas dos Indústrias do Couro, which has high experience and knowledge related to the development of collections and skin processing technologies, especially technologies that lead to cleaner production and products with innovative functionalities.
These individual actions will not only allow the development of innovative articles in companies, but also create a national collection to disseminate the differentiating potential of the Portuguese product, but also provide the companies with development management techniques that allow greater differentiation of products, of aesthetic vita, but also with regard to technical / functional subjects.
Thematic collections will be developed, which will be the target of dissemination and dissemination actions, among them the creation of Books, or compilations of samples duly identified with skin type, process used, responsible company, among others. In this context, 2 Books will be developed by the CTIC, since it is the entity responsible for the technological support to companies, with the support of another company responsible for graphic design and printing. www.apic.com.pt
