Red21 Cad/Cam for footwear

At the Inescop stand we also met Antonio Miralles, CTO of Red21, a leading Spanish company in the sale, distribution and assistance of CAD/CAM systems for footwear.

How long have you been attending the fair?
“Our company has been here for more than 25 years, every year. We represent the commercial channel of all the software developed for Inescop, the Spanish institute of innovation and technology that offers technological services and research on topics of interest to the footwear sector. Inescop promotes innovation through research, transforming it into opportunities for companies. In addition to the development, control and quality departments, there is a branch dedicated to the creation of software for footwear. What we presented at the latest edition of Simac/Lineapelle is innovative software, ICad3D, which allows you to start from very basic development up to the 3D, which I can affirm is among the best on the market because it accelerates processes, considerably reducing times, optimize company resources and avoid waste.”
The September edition was the ‘restart’ fair. What kind of feedback did you have?
“Excellent, we are very satisfied. We have acquired many contacts. For us, the fair is not the place to sell but where to be able to explain what we do and let the potential of our software be touched by hand.”
The prospects for the future are positive but what is the biggest dream, the one you would like to see coming true in a short time?
“First of all, the reduction of material waste by companies that produce shoes. This program is a real solution, no more playing with patterns and colors. We have customers who use it really well, reducing prototyping times and the materials used, thus avoiding unnecessary waste; above all it allows you to realize an idea and transfer it to the shop in a short time. In this way, companies have more time to make better quality products and can focus on issues such as sustainability and respect for the environment.”
Can you give us a concrete example?
“A very important German customer of ours, who mainly sells on the web, reduced the development of one of his models by almost five weeks. It’s more than a month… In addition, he has created some collections that are exclusively virtual, that is, sold on the internet through digital models, without even having produced a physical sample.”
This is already a wonderful solution to face the problem of waste, but do you foresee an evolution?
“Our software is constantly evolving because we continue to develop it on a daily basis. We launch two updates a month so that it can always work at the highest level. Decathlon is one of the brands we work with, just to give an example. The Group makes the samples in France and then activates production in Europe and Asia exclusively by connecting with 3D and managing to first calculate the production costs starting from the yarn up to the last material needed to make its shoes. It doesn’t need anything else. What else shall we desire?”
