Revomec, DROPLESS high technology at the Milan Fair

REVOMEC, the trump card for the future will be the Re-GREEN range

REVOMEC, headquartered in the Arzignano tanning district, is among the leading companies at the Tanning Tech Show, scheduled in Milan September 22 – 24, a much sought-after event, the first to be held after more than a year and a half. The Venetian company, founded by Fabio Gecchele and Manuel Zordan in 2011 and thus celebrating its first 10th anniversary this year, is specialized in the manufacturing and marketing of leather processing machines and specialized in the making of milling drums, used in the final part of the tanning process, the finishing phase.
“At Tanning Tech in Milan – said Fabio Gecchele, – we will display the DROPLESS model, as we did in February 2020, at the last worldwide fair before the lockdown. It is technologically a very advanced machine and has met with great success both in Italy and abroad: DROPLESS literally means “without drop”, a technology necessary to humidify the hides without staining. It was a great innovation which provided us with a lot of visibility, in a difficult market situation, throughout 2020 and this year. Once the technology has been explained to the customer, sometimes with a test, the choice is obvious. So, we thought it was a good choice to bring it again, with a further updated and improved model.”

Will you showcase other machinery at your stand?
“The space does not allow it, however the Re-GREEN models, the most complete of our range, will be well highlighted. These models are cutting-edge as well; we will launch this line on the market once the Covid alarm is definitively coming to an end. At the fair, we will put posters and give away brochures, so to explain the advantages of this technology to the operators.”

What re the expectations for Tanning Tech 2021?
“We had to be there because after a year and a half of no shows worldwide, it is essential to question ourselves also to understand the new market trends. Live meetings during the fair will let us discuss in front of a machine and show the news on-site.

How is the market going at REVOMEC?
“Very well, at the beginning of the year we reached unthinkable figures: numbers tell us that we are also growing compared to 2019. Being a small and young company, we registered double-digit increases in the last years, ranging between 10% to 20%. Last year this upward trend inevitably stopped due to the pandemic, even though we sold several machines last fall; we started to grow again only in the first half of 2021. We have guaranteed orders up to February 2022, so the goal is to close the year with a good result. We are covered with orders for the next five months, however if any customer urge for a machine, we’d try to meet his need.”

Have you started to travel abroad again?
“We have made some intercontinental trips, in Asia, the United States and South America, with relative quarantine periods spent at home. We went there only to keep contacts with strategic customers we did not see since 2020, rather than to place orders: these visits could no longer be postponed. But this year contacts have increased in many European countries, especially those in the East. We hope that soon, thanks to the Green Pass, we can move around the world without further limitations.”

Is the uncontrolled rise in the cost of raw materials an issue for you?
“It becomes very difficult to make forecasts from an economic point of view. For example, to build our machines we use lots of stainless steel, whose reckless cost increase will force us to revise our price lists, even our customers are now realizing it. We had been foresight and for this reason, at the beginning of the year, after the rumors were heard, we bought raw materials, including metal sheets, electrical material and inverters. Our calculations had been made on 2019 turnover, but then the work grow, so stocks ran out. We hope prices to stabilize again, even if it is now assumed that the cost of raw materials will not return to that of the pre-pandemic period.”

What are your plans between now and the end of the year?
“October will largely be spent to move to the new warehouse, also in Trissino, which covers an area of approximately 2,500 square meters, triple the current one; however, we will continue to use the old one, probably to stock the used machinery. With an additional third site that we have for some years, we reach a total of about 4,000 square meters, which will allow us to work more easily. Throughout this year and a half affected by the health pandemic, in addition to deepening the issues related to research and development, we have also reorganized our staff.”

How does your commitment to environmental sustainability advance?
“It has always been one of our ‘flagships’, now it is clear that all companies are moving towards this direction. The first machine we developed, in 2011, was a low energy consumption model, and this feature is still our corporate philosophy. Even the name of our top of the range, Re-GREEN, recalls our sustainable choices.”
