Santoni’s X Machine and the technologies developed by Elettrotecnica BC have upgraded the production process applied to shoes featuring a seamless knitted upper.
The cutting-edge X Machine designed by Santoni S.p.A., world’s leading company in the manufacturing of circular knitting machines as well as seamless technology pioneer, will be on display once again at the upcoming edition of Simac Tanning Tech, scheduled from February 19th to 21st, 2020. The whole finishing production cycle of the seamless knitted upper will be showcased to the industry professionals at the stand set up by Elettronica BC, the enterprise headquartered in Vigevano specialized in the making of footwear assembly systems.
The combination between Santoni’s X Machine and the technologies developed by Elettrotecnica BC has led to the development of a shoe that falls into step with a contemporary trend, that is, knitted uppers featuring 3D structures and inlay works – a solution that reduces labour costs by 80% compared to the Strobel technique -, thus resulting in a new footwear concept boasting a perfectly high-performance fit. Comfort is greater in terms of lightness, the fit can be easily adjusted to the shape of the foot, and the upper’s breathability is superior to any other types of hides.
Purposefully conceived for the footwear market, X Machine has been designed for the development of a boundless range of marquetry patterns while weaving of seamless uppers, in a single piece and without scraps. The machine allows to map out the upper with different dedicated areas according to the yarns used (including recycled and recyclable ones) and to the different favourite combinations in terms of colours and knit types. Among the most interesting features for the safety footwear sector, a special mention goes to the ability to harden, as needed, some parts of the upper, while leaving others more elastic and comfortable, thus guaranteeing an excellent fit as well as the utmost foot’s stability. Furthermore, X Machine gives the chance to make also the upper’s eyelets, thus resulting in a metal-free shoe and in a product ready for the final application of the sole.
