AT THE FEBRUARY 2025 EDITION OF LINEAPELLE, ECOTAN® FOCUSED ON THE AUTOMOTIVE WORLD BY PRESENTING NEW PARTNERSHIPS WITH IMPORTANT PLAYERS IN THE SECTOR
In recent years, Ecotan®, the 100% metal-free tanning technology developed to create a biocircular leather with a high bio-based content that reduces CO emissions, has raised increasing interest from the automotive sector, which is confirmed to be the most sensitive to environmental issues such as carbon footprint and circular production within the supply chain. Ecotan® offers the market a sustainable and “Zero-Waste” alternative, namely upcyclable leather, which can find new life as biofertilizer, compost or biochar. The focus on the automotive sector has led to increasingly close and strategic collaborations with important companies such as JBS- Zenda and Rino Mastrotto, a network now expanded by Mario Levi, Durli Couros and Eagle Ottawa, true excellences in the tanning sector. The common thread that links these top players to the Ecotan® world is the vocation for a circular supply chain in the name of the “Made to be Reborn” mission and the creation of prestigious and high- performance leathers, combining tradition and innovation. The Stellantis group has recently joined this already extensive list, choosing Ecotan® with JBS-Zenda leathers for the interiors of the new Opel Grandland, the protagonist of an international promotion campaign launched recently. At Lineapelle, Ecotan® has been featured at Silvateam stand, the project’s parent company, where visitors have been able to appreciate the uniqueness of these leathers through some examples of car seats made by the new partners, including a model developed by the Rino Mastrotto tannery in collaboration with Poltrona Frau, an expression of a process that enhances the authentic beauty and naturalness of the material. In addition to the seats, new collections of leathers designed to cover car interiors, such as door panels, dashboards and consoles, have been presented, so to offer tailor-made solutions for an ever-evolving sector.
