The Purple system, developed by Todesco in collaboration with ffSC ffroup, has set a new standard in the leather finishing process, raising great interest at Simac Tanning Tech
The Purple system, patented by the Todesco company, based in Creazzo (Vicenza) and developed in collaboration with GSC Group, another company from the same area, was one of the main innovations at the latest edition of Simac Tanning Tech which is by far one of the world’s most important trade shows in the industry. This new system consists of an innovative way of drying and crosslinking fixatives and hybrid topcoats. The process allows to keep the temperature of the leather grain under 35 °C and the catalyzation of the chemical reaction takes place not by thermal effect but by exposure to UV rays. “We are ready,” said brothers Paolo and Giorgio Todesco, co-owners of the company, during an interview at their booth, “to market the Purple system. The interest aroused has been considerable, and several operators have asked us for more details about the benefits. We are convinced that Purple, understood as machine, chemical and process, can become a new standard not only for the automotive industry, but also for high-end furniture, leather goods and footwear. Tests carried out have shown excellent performance in terms of mechanical strength, making it possible to reduce the amount of product applied, for example, on leather goods. This is in line with market demands, which ask for quality and naturalness of the grain without compromising durability and strength.”
The new machines, which will be available on the market in 2025, have been presented as well at Todesco’s stand, along with all the other products. “This year we have invested in unceasing improvement,” the Todesco brothers pointed out, “developing new automatisms and advanced electronics for the products in our range, especially for the Innover system. The new spray booth ensures extremely low water consumption and sets innovative standards to reduce the process environmental impact. We have also made significant advances in automation and process control, improving technological performance and making operators’ work easier. Another important development is about the dust abatement systems: thanks to a design that we adjusted over years of experience, our abatement systems’ yield now exceeds by 99.93 percent, virtually eliminating emissions to the air.”
Speaking about the future, Paolo and Giorgio Todesco keep a confident approach, especially in view of consumption growth that economists predict for the 2025-2026 biennium. “After a weak start to the year, we experienced a tentative recovery in machinery sales during the second quarter. Despite cautious investment, the soundness of our policy, focused on added value and quality, was confirmed. In today’s skeptical market, the choice should not be made on the lowest price, but on the right one. Leather is a noble material and, to be enhanced, it must be processed with care. We strongly believe in the potential of quality, competitive and sustainable leather, and to achieve these standards, the use of efficient machinery that can reduce production costs, monitor performance and ensure excellent finishes with an ever- lower environmental impact is essential.”
