NUOVI MESTIERI E SVILUPPO TECNOLOGICO: L’ORIZZONTE DELLA PELLE E’ SMART

CORICHEM

“Riflessioni sul futuro che ci attende: invecchiamento, nuovi mestieri, sviluppo tecnologico” (“Reflections of the upcoming future: ageing, new careers, technological development”, editor’s note): this was the interesting meeting organized by Corichem on June 8th, 2019, at Villa Pisani Bonetti, in Bagnolo di Lonigo (Vicenza province), the right occasion to celebrate the 31st anniversary of the company headquartered in Sarego as well.

A strategic event that featured well-known speakers that, throughout the whole morning, shared their opinions and insights concerning topical issues, related especially to the future of the business community as well as to the challenges awaiting the tanning sector. The main guest of the convention was Maurizio Fermeglia, the University of Trieste’s rector, who led the discussion, by providing an in-depth analysis on the current situation and on the future prospects on a global scale.
“The decline in fertility and the growth in average age,” explained Fermeglia, “are the two main factors that will affect, in the short term, the sustainability of the global system. A pivotal support will come from cybernetics, thanks to increasingly sophisticated IT tools. However, they should still be flanked by that sixth sense belonging exclusively to homo sapiens, embodied by core values such as creativity, culture, curiosity, knowledge and expertise.”
The rector also addressed topics related to the tanning and leather goods industries, sectors in which

operates. “Bags, jackets and leather accessories of the upcoming future will have to interact more and more directly with their owners, that is, by receiving and sending information. More specifically, clothing items and accessories will be equipped with sensor devices connected to biology: in this context, big data will play a pivotal role and the management of the 5G network will be highly strategic. If, on the one hand, Asian countries, China in the lead, are at the forefront in the development of sensors, on the other, they are not equally good at manufacturing bags and jackets. We are very well versed in that field, and we must continue to do so in the upcoming years.” “The future of world industry,” then explained Fermeglia, “is deeply tied to two essential trends, namely, decarbonization and digitalization, as pointed out in the 14th edition of the Global Risk Report, drafted at the end of the World Economic Forum 2019. The most likely, disruptive scenarios lying in store are related to environment and cybersecurity: international industry will deal with these issues and even the most traditional sectors will have to take this path.”
At the beginning of the event, Roberto Ciambetti, president of the regional Council, extended his greetings on behalf of the Veneto region: he contributed to the debate by providing a series of data on growth prospects and on the crisis factors that will affect the Western world in the coming decades. “Important challenges,” stated Ciambetti, “are lying in store for Veneto-based companies and, in general, for Italian firms, as they will have to interact more and more with international ones. In this historical moment, courage and determination are in need, and CORICHEM is a striking example of how to take on challenges on a global scale.”
Equally interesting the debate that involved, among others, Lucio Biondaro, founder of the scientific promotion company Pleiadi, Laura Dal Corso, psychology lecturer at Padua University, Luca Ancetti, director of the newspaper Giornale di Vicenza, and Sebastiano Zanolli, expert in business motivation: each one of them, according to their specific area of expertise, actively contributed to the discussion.
